Re: The Dark Knight Rises
I know - I was just laying out my thoughts on the 'hypothetical' chance of Nolan's Trilogy being 'integrated' into the DCU
I know it's not happening, and that, as I summarized, is probably for the best ultimately.
Really hope MoS is NOT in a vacuum. I can understand very clearly why Nolan would want Batman in a vacuum, he is a mortal afterall, but for a character like Superman, putting him in a vacuum wouldn't make much sense particularly as so many of his foes, save for Lex Luthor, are also super-powered or are aliens.
The only purpose having Supes in a vacuum would serve is to accentuate his loneliness and his struggle to integrate with normal humans. But that can still be achieved in an integrated DCU setting IMO.
With regards to Batman reboot - yeah, i'm certain it will be a new actor, but not so sure it will be an origin story. There is no point going through the origin again, Nolan, of all people should understand that. Everyone knows what Batman's origin is, just hints to it via limited flashbacks should be more than enough. Reboot Batman should cut to the chase IMO.
It's already being called a reboot. Nolan has already agreed to produce it the same as he is Superman.

Nolan has said from the beginning the story they are writing mimics Batman where the character exists in a vacuum and there will be no references to any other DCU characters. Now, there people claiming that according to Snyder that the "vacuum existence" is no longer the case but we won't really know until we see the film and from what has been leaked it's not only taking liberties on the character but also doing an origin.
If the Batman 2014 stay "reboot" I have no doubts in my mind it'll be a origin story told with a different actor. Honestly I'm about 90% sure that when TDKR finishes that Nolan's trilogy will be left alone and standalone with none it connecting to any of the DCU's filmverses current plans.
