Re: The Dark Knight Rises

I like the idea of this. I'm against cgi though. If you do have a scene not used or footage unused I would do that and somehow work it in with cuts. thatd probably look alot better...I'm just having nightmares of CGI arnold in Terminator salvation or Professor x in wolverine origins.

Even like a weird flashback or something could work.

Just by going from what we've seen there's a whole bunch of stuff that I'm sure they have available without using CGI. I believe they filmed and photographed Ledger as the Joker filming Mike Engle (Anthony Michael Hall). They filmed the scene where the Joker and his goons leave the Wayne's penthouse. They also have bits of him running into the car. Then lets not forget the alternate takes/dialouge and probably a slew of things we've never seen before.

Why do I have a feeling this is bull____?

This story came out a few months ago. Nolan has already said no way.

Not much is known about the latest installment of the Caped Crusador, but one thing is for sure: the Joker will not be making an appearance. "For me, Heath [Ledgar] was the definitive Joker," Nolan said. "It wouldn't feel appropriate to readdress that character."

Talking with Empire, Chris Nolan was asked about Joker in the third Batman film, which will hit theaters July 20th, 2012.

This is what the director had to say:

“No…I just don’t feel comfortable about it.”

Oh yeah. That's why.

I don't think it'd be like CGI arnold, I'm thinking if anything, it'd be CGI environments. Like shots of Joker in the MCU holding area through bars but take out the back ground stuff that makes it MCU and turn it into something to say it's now Arkham or whatever. I'd imagine there are some cut bits that the full Ledger footage could be used, but the environment wouldn't make any sense so you cut him out like blue screen and stick him into whatever environment fits.

Oh yeah. That's why.

That, and it wouldn't be easily done and if it comes off feeling forced, it's a disservice to the audience and Heath.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

It won't be the last bu115hit rumour before the film comes out. It's such a cheap way to rack up web page hits and generate ad revenue.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

yeah, well that's half the fun. I'm hopeful no matter what.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

I think I'm most curious as to what's going on with Wayne Manor and vehicles. The villain will work and be well cast whoever Nolan uses, but I wonder, will they have Wayne Manor finished, will we see a true Batcave before Nolan's done, will there be a true Batmobile built. I hope the Batpod is still in use. While a Batmobile, even the Tumbler, is cool, there's something majestic about the flying of his cape in the wind on the pod, some realyl awesome shots in TDK.

Indeed.

It seems stupid and distracting.

yes yes!!! Not to tarnish this thread with word of the old Batman films, but when I was younger that was half of the excitement. Waiting to see what new tricks Batman has with the Batmobile, Batwing, and Batboat. It was very cool to see the Batpod in TDK, but I was hoping for something else to happen too. I really think a Batwing isn't plausible in these films, but I'd definitely be down for a newly designed Batmobile and cycle.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

Oh, I have no doubt that we will see a redesinged batmobile, batpod, and not to mention a new batsuit. We have toy sales to think about after all.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

What will be interesting is now Lucious Fox is fully aware of Bruce being Batman, where in the first film there was a wink and a guarded distance.

Now that Lucious is knowingly working on special projects rather than combing through Wayne Enterprise corporate assets I expect more than just a new suit.

That is, of course, if the law doesn't finally go after Bruce and company. Someone figured Bruce out in TDK, I'd almost be disappointed if it didn't happen on a large scale in the next film.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

I think so...it was much more of a whisper/regular talking in batman begins. I think he sounded like that cause the joker was really stressing him out. I'm thinking he's gunna be cool as hell no matter how sticky the situation gets for now on.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

Nope. I have a feeling we'll get the same TDK gravel in the throat voice no problem in TDKR.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

When the [Christopher Nolan] was asked if any part of him wished he was tackling another original script instead of another Batman sequel in the wake of Inception’s blockbuster grosses and Oscar buzz:

"No, it’s exactly the opposite. I feel very glad that I’m doing another Batman film. I think it would have been daunting to sit down and write an original script after Inception. I love working within the realm and rules of our Batman world. It’s kind of nice to have someplace to go that I’m super-excited about.” He added that Inception’s success allows him to tackle another Batman without any sense of needing to prove himself: “I must say that I’m glad — I’m very, very glad — to be embarking on the last chapter of our Batman saga without any sense of obligation or duty to the studio. They did very well with Inception. So I’m able to go into finishing our story in a very enthusiastic way."

Chris Nolan Confirms That Tom Hardy Will Be In Batman 3 And Debunks The Joker

At an industry event last night for the upcoming release of his film Inception on Blu-ray and DVD, Nolan addressed the latest rumors about the return of the late Heath Ledger's Joker and also confirmed that Tom Hardy will be in the highly anticipated movie. Here's an excerpt from the report over at indieWIRE:

But he wouldn’t say what the story’s about or who the villain is, other than to confirm that Inception’s Tom Hardy will play "a key role, not saying good or bad," and to shoot down reports that he’ll resurrect The Joker by including unused footage of Heath Ledger’s performance in the previous chapter. "That’s all wrong," said the writer-director.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

Not to rake the coals any further but saying neither good nor bad could play into the Prey storyline where the sargeant is both good AND bad....

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

That's why I have no worries about TDKR only being what Nolan wants it to, he does great with this franchise, and WB is well aware of his enthusiasm and all, if they let him ride out the energy, we're going to get a great movie, if they start tampering with his work, they'll ____ it up and they know it.

I don't think a plane would be farfetched, but, thus far, there hasn't really been situation calling for it. All of the battles have been very small scale. I think the memory cloth cape will be the extent of Batman flying, and I kind of prefer that, it's more like he's a creature flying than just a guy in a vehicle.

Oh, I have no doubt that we will see a redesinged batmobile, batpod, and not to mention a new batsuit. We have toy sales to think about after all.

I really don't think the TDK suit was driven by toys. Take a look at the TDK toys, the majority of the kids line didn't even resemble the film costume so Mattel can make up whatever it wants for toys and sell them like they always have for Batman, even going back to the '89 film, Batman movie figures have usually been farfetched designs with nothing tied to the movie.

I'd be surprised to see a new suit, new gadgets for it sure, but the TDK suit was a Bale/Batman need, in the film and in reality, the Begins suit looked nice but wasn't functional. We might see a more Begins style cape perhaps, get that majestic look back, but I think this suit's going to stay.

What will be interesting is now Lucious Fox is fully aware of Bruce being Batman, where in the first film there was a wink and a guarded distance.

Now that Lucious is knowingly working on special projects rather than combing through Wayne Enterprise corporate assets I expect more than just a new suit.

I don't get this statement, you talk about Fox as if TDK never happened. We've seen what Fox is like knowing Wayne is Batman, if WE is already making it or has it, he gives it to him, and if not, he gets it made, like the new suit, the Batpod which wasn't part of the Tumbler's original design, or the sonar technology.

What we haven't seen and probably will see is a strained relationship, and perhaps Wayne having to be more self relient and Fox now wanting to be involved.

While the new things are exiting to think about, right now, I'm really eager to hear that Bale, Oldman, Caine and Freeman will be back and that Zimmer and Newton-Howard will be doing the score once again.

Exactly what I was thinking! If it means Catwoman is to appear, then :banana

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

About CGI Joker:

“I heard the rumor,” said Thomas. “We’re not doing that.”

Nolan also denied that Ledger would show up in the new film. The script isn’t even completed yet, he said, and Nolan believes that Ledger’s performance as the Joker should be contained to the 2008 movie.
About the movie in general:
Moreover, he also finds it hard to believe so many fans think he's written, cast, shot and finished his films before he's even started. In particular, "The Dark Knight Rising" at the moment, where he's still just finishing the screenplay and hasn't finished casting at all. And make it clear Batman fans, this wasn't Nolan just being humble for the sake of the press, he really thinks you all might be giving him just a bit too much credit. His films come together during the production and editing process and he's certainly not thinking of what he'll do after "Rises."
Lastly, I joked with Nolan about his Batman muse Christian Bale who told the press recently he doesn't believe anything about future "Dark Knight" movies until it comes out his director's mouth. Nolan sadly hasn't gotten a chance to see Bale's amazing turn in "The Fighter" yet, but he did reveal he keeps Bale pretty up to date with what's going on. So, perhaps it's Bale that's being decidedly mum?
