Heat is better than The Godfather, if you ask me.

Seriously. That was not sarcasm.

Dead to me.

Goodfellas is better than Heat and the Godfather, if you ask me.

I'm a Goodfellas nut and I disagree with this (Godfather) Right after The Shawshank Redemption The Godfather is the best film ever made (imo)

Raiders is best movie ever made.

GF is best mob movie ever made.

I'm waiting on TDKR before I announce Avengers as best superhero movie.

Heat isn't a "mob" movie. It's a classic cops and robbers film. The mob isn't even an element in the movie. Moreso than that, it's an excellent character study, and in my opinion, a superior one to both The Godfather and Goodfellas.

God forbid I have an opinion that differs from the top two spots on the IMDb top 250. :dunno

It's definitely not a mob movie - completely agree with that.

Heat and TDK have much more in common than Heat and Godfather or Goodfellas (and Heat has been named by Nolan a number of times as inspiration for TDK).

I prefer TDK to Heat possibly only because it's a Batman film.

I haven't seen either and I have heat on DVD still in the wrap.

Should I just leave?

The surround sound is a must. Heat features the all time greatest shootout sequence on film, ever. Period. Anyone says any different doesn't know what they're talking about. :lecture

Yeah -- Heat isn't even in the same genre as Godfather or Goodfellas. Its a bank robbery movie -- closer to The Town, or Public Enemies, or even the beginning of The Dark Knight (though TDK spins off into more of a terrorism/counterterrorism movie).

Still ... I prefer The Departed to The Godfather. Godfather is great. Departed just seems to have more intrigue and gets to the point faster.

Everybody has that one movie they know they'd like that they just haven't gotten around to seeing. I'm ashamed to admit -- Goodfellas is mine. I own it. I've just never gotten around to it. I will one of these days.

Regarding Heat (Platty don't read this till you've seen it)

The diner/coffee shop scene where Deniro and Pacino sit across each other...holy ____...incredible BOX OFFICE acting there, and the dialogue... The TDK interrogation room scene is no doubt a homage to that
