Thing is the slo-mo thing may for once actually make sense for a character like Superman, given his super-speed and super-hearing etc.

It made NO sense for 300 or Watchmen.

Actually, in Watchmen I think it worked great during the scene between Oz and Comedian in the beginning, as well as the Vietnam march.

If it weren't for Goyer, Scarecrow wouldn't have a mask!!! For that, I love that Goyer is involved. And who cares how the script reads if the final product is good? General consensus from Nolanites and Batman fans around these parts seems to be BB > TDK.

I wouldn't call either a mess. Don't get why people get nuts over the third act or the microwave emitter. They complain things are too real. Then they complain there's a silly sci-fi gizmo a villain is using in the movie. Make up your minds what you want!

what pissed me off about the Microwave Emitter is that we are told from different characters what it does like 40 FREAKING TIMES, seriously that could be a drinking game (everytime they talk about it take a shot) by the end of the movie you would be hammered,

And that's why I wouldn't worry about butchering or anything yet, the alleged times have ranged from almost 3 hours to 3 and a half. If this new run time is real, it's possible this is what it's really been all along.

I never really bought into the 3 and half, but even 3 hours, if trimmed, how much could really be lost in 15 minutes.

If this is real, it's 15 minutes longer than TDK, hope the flow holds well.

I didn't read about the prior alleged run times here, but the max film-length cut-off for IMAX is 2 hours and 46 minutes (or approx. 170 min), so 2:45 makes the most sense to me.

Any longer and it would've needed an intermission for IMAX showings, which seems implausible to me.

I would agree, but, Reese served a need purpose. In arguments over Begins vs. 89, it came up, like no one from Wayne Enterprises would recognize the Tumbler. Reese addresses what would happen, and you had to have some way of Wayne/Batman doing something for him that would get him to shut up. Could they have shortened that, sure, but it did have to be in there.
