What movie was the best of the 3?

I can appreciate the "idea" behind Watchmen, but even still that movie straight sucked. I mean really, 3 hours? Really? This movie has no business being in the same sentence as Iron Man and The Dark Knight. No super-hero movie should EVER be as long as Titanic. Period.

I'm just saying that TDK is all but the word of God on the boards here.

Oh quit trying to make excuses why Watchmen isn't as well received as you want it to be. I seriously doubt many people here think TDK is the best movie ever made. Best superhero movie maybe, but certainly not the best movie. I seriously doubt that the board would collectively approve of *my* personal favorites but it really doesn't matter. So suck it up and take it like a man. ;) :duff

there were some people here that were upset that DK was not nominated for best picture though......

while i had a much more enjoyable experience with Dark Knight, i thought purely based on story and overall quality, Watchmen was better. I really enjoyed the depth of where Watchmen went, and caused for hours of discussion afterward.

There is just so much wrong with that I don't even know where to begin.

You obviously don't know much about WATCHMEN... and also overlooked that the Theatrical version is all of 9 minutes longer than TDK.

Who's making excuses? Find a single point I have made in this thread and try and refute it. Let's start there.

Besides, some of us have lived with the fact that WATCHMEN is probably too complex, layered and brooding to be appreciated by the masses for about 23 years now. That the film has precipitated the same reaction only reinforces that Snyder & Co. did their job in adapting it properly.

While TDK was my favorite movie last year, I don't think it should have been up for best picture. I do think Nolan should have got a director nod though.

I think you are if you need to resort to comments like "People almost treat TDK like the Word of God on this board." As if TDK is heralded as some unbeatable movie. I'm sure it would lose if put in a poll against the SW OT, LOTR, Indy trilogy, the Godfather movies, and lots of other commonly loved movies here.

This isn't some biased Batman/DC board. Its for people who like collectibles from a wide range of media/properties. People in general either don't prefer Watchmen because it was a well executed picture that catered to a very specific niche of fans or it just wasn't as good a movie. Nothing more significant than that.

People say that SW or LOTR fans can be touchy but I don't remember people "protesting" the SW vs. LOTR poll. ;) People just vote, state the reasons, and move on. Not that they have to move on, of course, back and forth discussion is obviously half the fun, but I think you get the idea.

I'm not sure you've spent much time on the DC Comics forum here. :lol

Also, if you want to see a good example of "making excuses" just read your own posts in the G.I. Joe Timber Environment threads. :monkey5 ;)

I've always hated these kinds of polls. They're stupid, pointless and serve only to bait and instigate the same endless online nerd debates.

I love Watchmen terribly, but it as a film adaptation it was hobbled from the get go. Baggage of the comic to live up to, dense, strange story, etc. Stuff TDK, since it designed to be a film, didn't really have to contend with. Plus, TDK had big name stars, an established, older main stream character and a successful first film to build from. The Watchmen story is better but TDK is a better film.

Yeah, maybe a little harsh on my criticisms, but just being honest. Hero, "anti"-hero, whatever, you know what I mean. I "OBVIOUSLY" don't know much about WATCHMEN, other than it was 3 hours of my life that I'll never get back.

Apparently I'm not the only one who feels this way judging by box office sales alone...

Haven't seen Watchmen, But I'd pick Ironman, TDK was good but way over hyped like Twilight.

I intend to. Snake Eyes just wouldn't be complete without his wolf Timber and a, um, wall. :monkey3 ;)

I'm glad there's movies like Watchmen that have enthusiastic followings even if I'm not one of the crowd. It'd be boring if everything was "SW this" and "LOTR that". That's also why I'm bummed that it appears Indy maybe fading away. :monkey2

:waveElektra was far superior to all 3.

Nuff Said!

BUT....and there's always a :moon

If you put a gun to my head, I guess I could say that TDK was better than Elektra.

For me..

TDK was an excellent bottle of Wine
Iron Man was an excellent Cold Beer
Watchmen was an excellent Mixed Drink

oh...and Punisher: Warzone was an excellent shot of Tequila, Scotch and Whiskey all at once until it burned a hole in my stomach!

Bottom Line, I refuse to pick just one dammit! I'm spoiled and I own both that are out and will also own WM extended cut when it's released...because i'm spoiled and I can...

So there.......:naughty:rolleyes::naughty
