It's sad that many people would rather see Bay's Transformers than this masterpiece..

Some people only see movies as "good" if they have a 100 million dollar budget, have CGI, and gross the most money.
And they won't even look at movies such as: Drive, The Descendants, War Horse, TinTin, Dragon Tattoo, Ides of March etc.

Saw this today, and glad I did....as much as I enjoyed the Swedish version, and I certainly did, this movie was pretty fantastic. Liked the little addition as the end....

Well, Episode 1 is coming back to theaters soon. So everyone's going to see that then.

But, how would people rather see a movie that's not even in theaters any more, over a movie that is?

It's a stupid point. A point brought up to look intellectual.

"Those transformer flicks are stoopid HUH?" (no ____ing ____ first of all)

Which I don't think anyone can disagree with, and those intelligent film fans can praise and agree with you.

But it's all a ruse.

It's hard for an R rated film to really perform well at the box office compared to a PG-13. An adult will go see this movie, and maybe take a date. But I sure can't take my kids. On the other hand, when I took the family to see Tintin, I bought five tickets. Even if I go see and support both an R rated movie and a PG/PG-13, the latter is automatically going to get more than twice as much of my money. With an R rated film, all that money goes to the babysitter instead of the theater/studio. Multiply that by the millions of moviegoing families in the country/world, and you'll see why even when households plan on intentionally buying tickets to both adult and family films at the box office, the family films will automatically bring in more than twice the money.

Make better points, Alien Resurrection boy. :lol

If anything, you should've said-

People would rather see Contraband, instead of this masterpiece.
I personally (hopefully it's not just me) can't stand Bay's Transformer movies.. I find them very annoying and they literally give me headaches. I thought Fincher's TGWTDT was incredible..very well-made, enjoyable movie. I just don't see how anyone could prefer the Transformer movies over this movie.
I used the Transformer movies because they're VERY popular.

I wasn't trying to look "intellectual" by posting my original comment, it was just a thought that came to mind after reading comments about how unsuccessful Fincher's TGWTDT was.

only reason why Transformers makes so much $$ is because its a kids movie. Almost all kids movies make tons of money, plus with the action figures and everything, this franchise is really popular with kids.

the adults however mostly dont like it.

can't compare Transformers to Dragon Tattoo in any way. Just completely different audiences.

I wouldn't consider transformers a kids movie with tons of sexual jokes/shots and language including F__k on #3. Lion King didn't have Simba staring at Nalas ass while saying "thats F__king awesome" :lol.

EDIT: I just re-read your post and thought about all the toys they make for these films. I guess they are for kids even though they're quite innapropriate for them.

Still, its not for old people either. :lol

I do agree, transformers is all look with no substance though.

I think TGWTDT is 100000x better, but the rape crap...UGH....it brought the movies enjoyability down quite a bit for me regardless of the "revenge".

Amazing movie with a killer score

I haven't read the books but my wife has - she felt the books gave you a lot more of Lisbeth's character.

Not sure if i'll read the books as i've got so much on my reading list already - but I hope to see sequels made by this team.

It's probably better. But it's still a ____ comparison.

Because people who CAN and WANT to see this WILL see this. it's not made for everyone. So 13 year old boys won't be able, nor would they want to see it.

I do feel many audiences have A.D.D, so not surprised this one isn't killing box office. I am sadden about that, however, as I loved the film and really want the next to made. Not that the plot is overly difficuly to comprehend, though its a little busy! I cant see many 22 year olds or younger really drawn to the story. Thought the cast was great.

Your points are pretty reasonable, but one could also argue that most families can't afford paying 5 tickets for every PG/PG-13 movie released, whereas most adult couples without children can pay for two.

Just saw and loved it. While not a massively original story, it was highly entertaining. Lisbeth was absolutely badass. Trent Reznor is my favorite musician so naturally I was excited to see this. Additionally, Fincher did Se7en, probably one of the most awesomely disturbing movies I have seen, so I knew it was going to be good.

Things I loved:
1. Opening credits! Fincher and Trent make an amazing team. First Se7en, and now this. Social Network was great too, but not on this level
2. Lisbeth and her ass-ets
3. "may I kill him?"
4. How 2.5 hours went by so quickly
