I want people to see how delightful, how wonderful, how MAGNIFICENT Faramir really is!

I have know doubt this will become a reality. Can't wait to see the pics of a repainted and then perfect Faramir. Your grail shouldn't be anything less.

Of course at that close up it's going to be atrocious,

Factory paint apps don't have to look atrocious when viewed up close:

;)

Faramir still looks like a very good overall figure. Just a shocking step back when it comes to the paint.

I'll give you that dude, it is a bit of a surprise at first. :lol Luckily it's not the kind of surprise where you recoil and throw it against the wall; it's more the kind where you go "oh, that's too bad" and then continue to play with him without even noticing it. At least, that's what I did.

I hear you bud. Hey I had both Anakin and Obi-Wan repainted because I wanted the figures to be that much better, and I'll even be purchasing a new Anakin headsculpt from Darren. Just because I like the characters so much and want them to be the best they can be. I see no problem with you or anyone doing the same with Faramir. Even with a repaint to make it virtually *perfect* it'll still be cheaper than your average Medicom figure. :lol ;)

I can't wait to see how yours turns out.

I'm SO glad Sideshow has this license! :rotfl

And don't be scared, Lady Sheba. He really is SUPER great, and I'm still having fun posing him and moving him around--he's just amazing! Don't let the paint job get you down; after all there's more to a figure than the paint!

I know it's pretty bad for some, and that's ok. If nobody complained about paint, it would always be bad. If nobody complained about clothes, they would always be cheap. If nobody was ok with things as they were, they would never be sold. It's good to have the mix of opinions and feelings; it keeps the quality up. But if you all think I'm happy now, imagine how I'll be if I get a perfect repaint!

Y'know Capt Faramir was always the stand out character to me in the books & I have always liked the character the most since flipping that page, I used to illustrate LOTR images long before the movie came out and Faramir and the Citadel Guard would always be my favoured characters to draw - Now I know I will have the best representation of him out - it's great, I will end up doing some painting to his hair but overall it looks to be an awesome figure.

Capt. can you tell me if the figure has a piece of cloth to cover the face - it wasn't in the movie but I believe the rangers covered their faces in the book - I could be mistaken as it was almost 20yrs since I read it :monkey1

In the book they do indeed mask their faces, but this figure does not include one. Any strip of cloth will to though. In the films there is also a cloth jerkin he wears which is not included; he's wearing it in my avatar. I'm going to make one eventually.

As for the paint, it's ok, but Faramir is my favorite character, and I really, REALLY want him to look just like he did in the films. And so I have been blessed by the heavenly aid of one who can exalt this figure to the radiant glory it deserves to have, one who can take this to the level of true figural perfection. I am going to have mine repainted--

by Figuremaster Les!

:bow

Wow- once faramir is repainted you won't be able to stop for the rest of them :lol Les is the master :orthanc - It's amazing though how little has to be done to the production to bring the likeness up - I've retouched 3 SSC figures now - Anakin ( simple lip repaint & lightened hair ) Aragorn (reduced beard with thinners and dry brushed leather coate to add age) Obi Wan (got the a lighter shade drybrushed to hair and beard)
Faramir will require similar with maybe a light ink wash to get simulate some dirt in his age lines :monkey1

Boromir was fine though he could do with an ink wash through the beard to bring out the detail

Capt, I link your umm love of Faramir has blinded you on that factory paint. It would only look good from 100 feet away. And yes, send it to Les . .. right away.

:rotfl Actually it made me more painfully aware of it, but it's not in my nature to worry about little things like that, and I'm known to be very generous with praise. Now imagine how wonderful my Faramir will soon be! Oh, it will be glorious!

MY GOD!!!!!!!! That is the WORST paint I've seen on a Sideshow figure EVER!!! That looks like a Toy Biz figure! Sideshow is going to new lows with this. Now I understand why Captain Faramir's heart is broken over this! Get that thing to Figuremasterles STAT!!!!!

Got mine today and I must say he looks pretty decent. Paint apps on mine actually look pretty good (different factory?), There is a sheen but no real shine, the eyes could have been painted sharper but look okay. Hair looks monotone-ish, and beard IS shiny but evenly painted and the fleshtones are very good, the outfit is incredible, overall a very good figure...

:rotfl

Oh you. Heartbroken? Not in the least! I love this figure, and would be insanely happy with him. But when doors open, I run in, and the chance to see the Figuremaster's work is one I cannot ignore. I disagree with those who assail this paint job; it's imperfect but not terrible. Broken heart? Me? I think you underestimate both my cheerfulness and my optimism, good friend!

I can't stand Faramir but even I will admit that I'd be devastated if that landed on my doorstep. :lol

Cap I think a blind man could read this forum and sense your upbeat vibes in this thread, but more power to ya, that's what collecting's about, I'd have shared similar joy over Jabba if I weren't laid up in bed with stomach flu not long after he came to me, but he was with me through the illness and I couldn't have loved Sideshow for making him more than that whole week. Just remember, the greatest of posessions pale in comparrison to the deeper, more worthwhile things in life, don't miss out on those either.
