Damn straight!! You can certainly count on that... The current state of it is rather harsh. Needs to be a LOT lighter.

Man just make mine as close to the proto as you can and I will be happy. Really I just don't want the paint app to look like a it was a 3 3/4 figure. :monkey2

Keeping the side-by sides going here...

Now it's not just the paint job here, but there are many subtle changes to the outfit from what we saw at TF...

The vambraces (sp?) are totally different in sculpt, color and appearance, the material for the outfit is a different color and the leather jerkin (with the tree) is narrower and tighter looking on the "final" figure. The belt is shorter (could be the way Josh has it on) and the boots are darker.

Now despite the differences, the outfit looks as well-assembled as the other LOTR figures and the contrast between the ToyFair edition and the one ending up with collectors are striking, but it's that huge drop in paint quality (and the simplification of the hair sculpt) that slams the eye and draws the other issues to the fore.

I'm with other folks here...Chris, if you're still around...any chance of seeing some shots of the actual production figures you're calling "consistent"?

Hopefully soon we'll see a side by side by side...

And SSC, stop cutting corners at our expense. Pay these people 1.25 an hour instead of .85/hr to get it right, we can handle it...

Sure beats the crap out of this...

At the very least, update Faramir's order page with production shots.

Guess we'll have to repaint the vembraces too... why couldn't they find brown fabric for the sleeves, etc btw, is that asking too much?

I'm with you guys. Please show us a Consistent one...

I'd happily order another one if the consistent ones look good, but at the same time, we need official SSC imagery, otherwise, what good would the 30 policy be if we only had the board members here for images, which could all be the mishaps, and like others have said, it'd be an bit of a hassle to send it back just to find out that what u had in the first place was what the consistent run produced.

Its BS, there are very many like this, they painted them ALL with the same paint scheme, some better, some worse, but the same scheme, which btw, is not close to the proto OR the display fig which is WHY I'm asking for some answers to their paint apps INCONSISTENCIES here... we deserve one.

As for the costume and vembraces, here's a nice pic I found yesterday looking for reference material, and based on it, the production vembraces are more accurrate.

True, but the sleeves are wrong color in prod, correct with display..

To me, the TF shot looks very brown, albeit light, but the pic I posted above looks olive greenish, just very faded. The production differs much from the proto, but it looks good compared to the film to me.

Let's hope we'll start seeing better QC from SST...

But I don't know if it is just wishful thinking. I hope this doesn't happen to ole' Ben.

Yeah, but then you have to look at his head... :monkey2 :lol

Well I'm just trying to clarify my stance on this figure, which is every single part of is amazing and I love it, but for the head, which is why I'm so curious as to IF there is a big difference between the paint apps we're seeing here on the boards and what the majority of productions figures got, because repaints give you the look you want, but I still like factory made for everything when possible, so I'm keeping optimism that maybe we all are seeing a big fluke.

Well, I hope so MF, but SSC STILL hasn't shown new prod pics so what does that tell you? (SSC pulls this crap all the time before cards are charged)

I think the paint scheme is consistent with all of them, they are a factory production run, whether the application of that paint scheme is any better, we'll have to wait for Chris to respond, but it still ain't gonna look anything like the proto or display fig...

Well I never expect production resemblance, but like I said earlier in this thread, I've come to have a bar that I measure Sideshow figures against based on the figures I get from them, and of over a dozen production figures I own, this was the only one that fell below that bar, so I'm just looking for something that stands up the quality they've led me to expect over the last year.
