Chris, how's mine? Is this "consistent"? Or should I pack him up?

I just want to know now that you brought it up.

The image goes without saying - That is not acceptable for a SSC product in my book. As I said above, if you are not satisfied, take advantage of the returns policy.

As for getting our official pics updated - we have it schedule for this week!

Thanks!

Thanks for coming in again Chris, it seems a lot of us got the same quality Wor-Gar got, and you seem really behind that paint quality being below SSC standard so I look forward to seeing SSC's production shots online to see what you guys do stand behind.

Thanks Chris..... The one good thing about this kind of debacle is that something might be done about it. I know SSC doesn't necessarily want this kind of thing happening to a figure they spent a lot of time with the R&D, design and production. Not only does it disappoint the fans, but the artists and the company itself.

I don't have Faramir in hand to judge myself, but from the pics posted.... it's pretty bad. Probably the worst yet from SSC, even worse than Willow. I just hope something can be done to avoid this in the future. I speak from a collectors standpoint, not a painter. I know that I, personally, can fix this myself..... but many can't themselves....or can't afford it.

Thank you, Chris.

I'll keep a look-out for those pictures, but my feeling is now that I should send Faramir back. Especially if you feel it's bad enough to come here and let us know.

Not sure how "returns" work but I hope I don't have to wait weeks for a replacement. Does anyone here know if returns issues a replacement immediately or if you have to wait until all orders are filled and then they start issuing replacements?

Well, since I doubt SSC would take a repainted back for return, I've decided to order a second Faramir to have a quality Factory version and finish my own. I finally got the head off the replacement body I picked up, and got all of Faramir's duds back on the body, and now that I'm looking past the head, this is such a great figure, I can't wait to have him fully assembled, really an A+ figure as far as costume and accessories go.

Memnoch21 is trying to return my Faramir since the box was rained on and soaked through and through. Hopefully they will correct the paint. If not, its off to the Dungeon of the DarkArtist.

Hi All! I wanted to take a sec to follow up on some of the paint jobs that have been posted in this monster thread. As some of you know, the extremely poorly painted examples are not consistent with the rest of the edition.

What does this mean? Are you saying that majority of the edition has nice paint that is not glossy like the ones we got?

Just to tie things in together, Chris' latest statement:

was made in reference to Wor-Gar asking for Chris' thoughts on his figure based on this image, which seems to be the norm of what people on the boards are getting, it certainly is what I received.

Maul Fan yours is a 10 compared the paint ops I have on the one I received. Mine looks like a blind no armed artist painted it with their feet.Oh yea that included a bunion and hammer toe to boot.

BUt what about CHris's statement that I quoted above. Is he implying that figures like Wor-Gars and ours are "flukes"?

I was on the WAIT list so even though that converted I'm still waiting for it to be shipped--- I'm hoping that when it arrives it's part of a "new" batch and not like the ones I've been seeing here... Very disappointing so far.

Yes, he made his comment about Wor-Gar's image he posted that I reposted along with Chris' quote. Since he made the statement in reference to that photo, I take that to mean he is saying Faramir's painted like that or worse are unacceptable flukes and that the acceptable figures are not like that. I guess we'll just have to keep our eyes peeled this week for official SSC production images to see what they're calling an acceptable production figure.

Me too...I'm anxious to see the Sideshow page for him updated with their "production" version...next week according to Chris (and thank you for that Chris)

Yeah, I will be curious as well. If it does look good I may send mine back for a replacement.

Lets just hope that SS is flooded with returns and this whole thing will greatly impact future quality control and production paint apps in good way.
