Thanks for posting the link to the pics. The figure looks great, but yeah, the paint is too dark. He doesn't have the blondish/light brown hair form the films or the prototype. The detail on the figure and the poses look great though.

I think a simply repaint lightening up the hair, including the facial ahir and eyebrows, would do the trick and restore the figure to the quality of the prototype. But overall, paint issues aside, it's easily one of the best in the LOTR line.

Faramir is better than his brother cuz he had the nobility and honor to do the right thing and not give in to selfish impulse, no matter how much pressure daddy put on him.

Whilst I agree undoubtedly that Faramir "did the right thing" (at least in the books and eventually in the films), I actually think that Boromir was under far more "pressure from daddy". Yes, Faramir might constantly be trying to prove to Denethor that he was worthy of praise etc, however it was expected that Boromir would always get things done for Denethor and Gondor. Hence, Boromir was under constant pressure to protect Gondor, whereas, no matter what Faramir did, Denethor wouldn't appreciate it, hence he wasn't expected to do anything. I always thought of Boromir as misguided, rather than selfish. There was a degree of selfishness, however his driving aim was to protect Gondor and he genuinely thought that the ring would help with that - whether that thought was his alone, or whether he was predominantly influenced by Denethor is perhaps debatable (although I strongly suspect the latter - its been a while since I read the books so I cannot remember exactly how it was described by Tolkien; in the films it was obvious (IMHO) that Denethor was the main influence). Just a thought...

Now we really need a Smeagol to reenact Faramir's most glorious moment in the movie: when he beat the living daylights out of that poor Smeagol. Faramir is such a sensible guy... I think he could also look good laying on a pile of wood... but we'd need a Denethor for that, don't we?

Well with these new shots, sadly it is confirmed that Faramir has fallen victim to the Aragorn shiny beard syndrome, what a shame, even with the darker shade, it would have been great with a matte beard. To me, this keeps Faramir from surpassing Boromir for best figure from the factory, Faramir's outfit looks on par with Boromir, and the sculpt is great, but the paint apps fall short and Boromir's were excellent. Still can't wait to get him though, but I have concerns about ever getting Eomir with a beard that isn't glossy, or another Aragorn without the gloss effect.

A review up on a taiwan site. overall the sculpt is decent, but quite a few paint problems.

Well he looks good to me...pretty much in line with the others (as those group photos show). The outfit looks killer and the paint doesn't look that bad to me.
At least the hair is lighter than some of those "box shots" that were popping up...

Has Capt. Faramir seen these shots yet? Or has he already passed out from euphoric delerium? :)

Or better yet...is he out getting a camera so he can share his joy with us? :) :)

The paint op problem were observation from the reviewer. The author stated that that was the best one out of the bunch he can choose from. The other faramirs have major paint op problems where big sections of beard/hair were unpainted or looks like they missed a spot. Also, the eye dont match position wise and one eye brow were lighter than the other. Of course, a repaint can fix all that.

WOW! Having seen these pics I'm more than pleased! While the application is dark I'm delighted by the sculpt--actually what bothers me isn't the darkness (which is technically accurate to the book and easy to fix) but the brown cloak (which is NOT accurate to the book OR the film and requires a whole new cloak on my part). Oh well. He still looks WONDERFUL and the best of the line!

As for Boromir's pressure from Denethor, remember that in the books they didn't know what "Isildur's Bane" was. Denethor, even with the Palantir, didn't know about the ring, nor did Elrond "summon" a meeting. Faramir, the more sensitive of the two, had the prophetic dream many times, and Boromir once, but neither knew what it meant. Faramir had pressured to go to Rivendell again and again, but Boromir, because of the danger of such a journey, took it upon himself, incurring the anger of Denethor and leading to a 100 day quest in and of itself. He went primarily because he felt he was the stronger and wiser of the two, which is a key factor into why he was so early affected by the ring--his feelings of being the protector, the mightier. Yet it proved otherwise at the test.

Now where's MY Faramir?!?!?

Everything looks fantastic except for the shiny beard and hair color. Overall he looks fantastic and I cannot wait any longer!

Yeah, definitely excited about this figure. His gear looks fantastic and he looks really noble standing there in some of those poses. I had a feeling the paint would probably be a bit of an issue, so I had already accepted the fact he may need a repaint - which I'm more than happy to start work on. I think he is by far my favorite of the LOTR series thus far.

(Wiping egg from my face) Well, I was wrong. It was the regular edition of Plo Koon that shipped instead of Exclusive Faramir. I apologize for the bum scoop. I will have to learn to be more thorough when checking to see what figures are shipping to me.

I caught myself looking at paint brushes today at Wal-Mart. I hope I'm not headed down that road because I haven't painted anything since design school!

well put, my captain. i like faramir better in the book and boromir better in the movie cause sean bean kicks rear. nothing against david wenham who does an amazing job and is prolly my second favorite character of the trilogy (especially with the EE TTT scene were he has his little aside over the dead haradrim and pretty much every scene in ROTK). but bean's council dialogue is my favorite scene on FOTR and maybe the whole trilogy (there is evil there that does not sleep...flippin' awesome!) the steward and his sons are pretty much the quintessential dysfunctional family (maybe thats why i relate lol).

i like the figure. it sucks that the cloak is the wrong color but oh well i guess...small price to pay for on overall great looking figure so far (or at least that's what i keep telling myself).

HAHA...I dig your "Civil War" badge Sheba, saying "I'm with the ORIGINAL ORIGINAL TRILOGY" means screw that 'Special Edition' business! Love it!

They're not shipping in the North . . .

Your error is forgiven my friend, though I admit I was heart-broken not receiving mine while people were already getting their's right here in Cali. Well, hopefully it'll be any day now!

Won't help ya much, but the less eager you get for it, the easier it'll be, people, and maybe even you, saw me go a little spastic about getting my Jabba the Hutt figure, sometimes these pieces will drive you mad, but when you least expect it you get a nice surprise; my Maul figure was one of the first few shipped of board members, but fortunately the buildup to shipment wasn't too bad and his early ship brought relief, so when I least looked for it, I got a treat, but when I sat on the edge of my chair, the chair was pulled out from under me.
