One thing I forgot to mention was that I liked how PJ handled the Dwarves getting caught by the elves. The way it was in the book didn't really translate well into a movie. I wonder if there will be more in the EE about why they were all discombobulated in Mirkwood or whether it'll just be left to that's what happens when you stray from the path.

I did like that change as well. Them running after the dwarves having a party works for a kids book but for the movie to be more serious it doesn't. I think there will be more Mirkwood added. Maybe even Bombur falling into the water. The scene was shot but no idea if we will see it or not.

The quality is terrible but, whatever. Although I think this is certainly not the best scene in the movie, it is the most interesting imo.

There's been a few scenes pop up on YouTube; they don't stay up long.

That whole scene reminded me a lot of the deleted scene in Return of the King with the Witch-King and Gandalf. Cool to look at because it's fun to see the bad guys show off their much talked about power for once. But lore wise it doesn't make much sense (other then the fact it wasn't even in the books). Though I think it's important to establish Sau...I mean the necromancer as a powerful entity, I felt like Gandalf should have been able to win that confrontation.

I don't know if GTG was powerful enough to be him alone even in book lore. Gandalf the White might have been able to do that in the same situation though.

I think we see additions to those places and we know Thrain will be in the EE. I also expect we will see what you mention in the spoiler part.

I forgot about Thrain.

Honestly, that's kind of a big thing they left out. Maybe it's in TABA at the beginning?

Also, I'm very curious to see what the Prologue will be. Will it be Epic like TT, FoTR, AUJ, or will it be quieter like DoS and RoTK. Pesonally, if they go for a quiet prologue again.

Agreed. That's one of my least favorite parts in the book.

Ah the memories. This reminds me of when I took a quick video of the Radagast vs Witchking scene last year during AUJ because I wanted to compare his crown to the LotR version and my flash went off on my phone. Twice! :slap :lol

Its supposed to be in the EE of Dos. That's what I saw quoted.

I expect it will be a quiet moment before we jump right into the craziness of Smaug attacking Lake Town.

Hopefully that scene and his death is a good 30/40 mins at the start of TABA. I don't want to say bye to him too early on. Hopefully Smaug get's on the TABA poster too.

I will be curious to see how quickly they have him die. I expect its within the first 30 mins of the movie to be honest.

Something I thought of for a TABA prologue would be to show the meeting at Ered Luin that Thorin mentions when he arrives at Bag End, It would reestablish the quest at the start and also could be used to introduce Dain to set up his character instead of having him first appear at the BOTFA.

Only a year to wait to find out.:lol

I imagine TABA will have the longest running time too...

Yeah, it will seem like forever to get here and not at the same time.

It might. We shall see.

The meeting of the Dwarven Lords could be an interesting way to start and then transition it to Bilbo finding the Arkenstone.

In the book Gandalf "scares" him off, then G comes back with the White Council, so, incorrect. gandalf the Grey would most certainly be able to thwart a formless, One Ring-less Sauron. Also auto correct just tried to turn "gandalf" into "gangland," made me giggle.

There is a difference between scaring off and defeating.
