Nothing has really wowed me this year, hoping this does the trick.

Can't wait for the part with Beorn, my favourite in the book.

I agree, it's been a very strange year. Nothing has lived up to it's hype, and a lot of movies had a backlash against it. I'm hoping the Holiday movie season changes things, otherwise this will have been a mediocre year for films.

Kinda cool that the end of the year ends with 2 big fantasy movies with Thor 2 and DOS.

Some are saying that the Iceland scenes in Thor 2 are reminiscent of the LOTR without heavy use of cgi.

I hope he brings back the great camera work he had in Fellowship. Fellowship is probably the best, visually. So many cool Jackson/Raimi esq shots.

I'm very much looking forward to these two as well as Catching Fire. :rock

I know over time I'm gonna rather sit down and watch a hobbit film(s) over lotr and I'm a massive fan of those.

You've got to be in a certain frame of mind to watch the 9+ hours of sweeping lotr epics whereas AUJ at least is less taxing and more feel good I'd say. They remind me of fun flicks like raiders or goonies. Helps that the book was written for kids young and old I guess :lol

Don't forget the Keanu reeves samurai fantasy film

Iceland for me personally when I visited there had the strangest landscape I've ever seen. One does feel like they are on another world .

Hmmm, I guess the camera work in all three looked the same too me. I noticed the Jaskson/Raimi esq shots in TT and ROTK. That being said, FOTR will always have a special place. Over time TT has become the film I watch the most, but fellowship was obviously the first one I watched. Not only that but I was completely blown away by FOTR when I saw it opening day in 2001I didn't expect it to be that good, and the final 10-15 minutes are my favorite of all the LOTR films. FOTR actually feels more personal than TT and ROTK. Things get pretty grandiose in TT and ROTK, but FOTR felt more intimate cause we just focused on the Fellowship.

I'm still trying to figure out what I think about his look. I don't hate it but I'm not loving it either. He looks good enough and I think feels like he fits in the world. I do like that they didn't go for the lumberjack look to be honest.

I always thought Hillbilly Jim in his prime would have been a good Beorn. :horror :lol
