I got lucky meeting him. He was controlling a remote controlled robot from England. We talked for about 5 mins and I had a blast even for that short a time. Sometimes I get lucky like that running into people.

I think people are going to like how it's done in the movie. It sounds like they can only be heard by Bilbo when wearing the ring. That was the rumor I heard at one point anyways.

IIRC doesn't Bilbo wear the ring when talking to Smaug? I wonder if Smaug sounds different in the shadow world.

Man I hope you are!

Can you imagine all the great Bilbo/Smaug scenes playing out Galadriel mind talker style? It would remove the audience and make for some boring viewing with him staring at a giant inanimate dragon.

Plus with the Smaug dialogue we hear in the trailer, he has the reptilian growling going on between lines, why would they add that in his mind?

I could see both being done and working just fine. I'd imagine Smaug would be moving around and Bilbo hears him. I expect Smaug will talk moving his mouth based on the first trailer looking at his face. I could see that throwing off the audience to see a talking dragon. Like I said I could see either working just fine and I'm excited to see those sequences come to the big screen.
