When I've seen the trailers on TV, they always say it hasn't been rated. Last night during The Walking Dead they had one and it wasn't rated yet.

Reactions on twitter from the premiere are starting to land.

Twitter Reactions

@Breznican: Okay, Hobbit 2 ... That's more like it. [ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY]

@jerslater: It's basically a three hour action movie. Smaug is incredible. The last hour is basically Jurassic Park in Middle Earth.

@Variety_DMcNary: Strong positive reaction to 'Desolation of Smaug', especially action sequences. [VARIETY]

@jerslater20m: So, um...guys? DESOLATION OF SMAUG is ********* awesome.

@Joe_N_Marino: So... I saw the world premiere of #TheDesolationOfSmaug and WOOOOOW... I loved it. My 2nd favorite of the whole franchise. Smaug was INSANE.

@edgarwright: Just home from the 'Smaug' premiere which is a treat for your eye bulbs and ear drums. The barrels set-piece is PJ in especially fine form. [DIRECTOR OF HOT FUZZ, SHAUN OF THE DEAD]

@Lisse_A: I completely agree. It was a complete sensory experience. Nothing like I've seen before. Loved every minute.

@Lissie_A: Also.. SMAUG!!!!!! YES!!!! "I Am DEATH" #BenedictCumberbatch is a ****ing wonder. The Necromancer.. Perfection. He deserves all the awards.

@Joe_N_Marino: Trust me, both her and Legolas deserve to be in this story

@Breznican: The barrel escape in #TheHobbit pt 2 is a thrilling and hysterical set piece - what the train fight in Lone Ranger hoped to be

@TheDylan1030: Oh btw I just watched Hobbit: desolation of Smaug at the premiere. Idk if you're into this franchise but it was pretty awesome

I do like that the reports coming in sound good. I expect it's not quite a 3 hour action movie because I will be a bit disappointed if we don't get some more good character development.

I quite like the fact that this film may have a different vibe to it compared to the first. Sort of like how each Nolan Batman film felt very different from each other.

I am actually looking forward to this being a 3 hour action movie. We already had enough development in the first one.

We just need some for the newer characters showing up but The fact that they are saying it is a 3 hour action movie is what has me most excited! :yess:

I expect each will be different in that each should get a little darker. Though the last one should end on somewhat a happy note.

I wouldn't say we've had enough development. I do think the action will be nice but I do want it to be balanced.

Looking forward to seeing Smaug in full-body shots, soaring through the sky. It would be a disservice if all we got was his head behind shadows and close-ups of his mascara and eye liner. :D

I loved The Hobbit. It was the character development, and the first hour that I loved the most though. The action scenes were for the most part over the top and went on for too long.

If Smaug is essentuially a 3 hour action movie, I'm not too sure. But I'll be there opening day. Bring it!

Believe it or not, but I enjoyed the First Hobbit movie better than Fellowship. I think it was the impending dread of it all, and all the slow motion that really dragged it down for me. I don't care what anyone says, slow motion drags down an action scenes and breaks the momentum of a movie.

Well that's encouraging. :rock

I finally got around to watching TUJ EE on Sunday I loved it. The scenes from the theatrical release that bugged me (goblin town and Thorin marching down the burning tree) didn't bug me that much anymore. :lol

It made get excited about TDoS. :thud:

Agreed. :hi5: It sucked seeing so many critics say some of the things they said about AUJ. It seems that may happen less this time around.

The EE is pretty sweet!!! Just a really nice set of additions.

22 days to go for me.....
