Maybe, but I never could get into Point Break, probably 'cause I wasn't a big fan of Swayze.

Ahhhh that would do it. Dirty Dancing probably ruined that. :lol I loved Point Break though. However, to be honest Point Break I saw when it came out. Near Dark I watched just last year. If I saw Near Dark as a kid I may hold it in my mind differently. If that makes sense?

And she used to date Jim Cameron. Beating him for the Oscar would be fantastic, I bet.

This movie was way more deep than Avatar. Flat out. I can even contradict my own post on the movie should I want to argue with myself. :lol I really liked this movie. Some of it really shows what people have to go through over the pond. A good example would be the and I forget his rank so I will say officer. He is trying to get the people to take their rocks and wheelbarrel and move on. He keeps saying nice things and trying to get them to move and ultimately he dies because he was being too nice and not aware of his surroundings. If anyone wants to watch a good modern war type of show check out Generation Kill. It is about as close as you can get to being in the modern military. And that was about the first war in Iraq. Not the even more modern one.

Fn' Best Buy and both local Targets were sold out! :banghead

They have 100's of Final Destination though. :sick

Ya, I would say this is like a double episode of GK. It was ok, maybe I was expecting more. Dont think it should even be nominated for an Oscar.

They are different types of films and demand different kinds of responses. I would agree that The Hurt Locker is more "worthy" but I don't know that I'd say that I would rank one higher than the other on my favorites list.

Just saw this movie. liked it, but I thought it ended a bit too abruptly and kind of seemed like a cop out.

And what was up with that sniper battle? Didnt the baddies know where they were since they killed the previous guy that was on the Barrett?

Generation Kill was about this war in Iraq.

I loved The Hurt Locker but I couldn't get into Generation Kill , maybe I didn't watch enough episodes. It felt like everytime something was going to happen it finished to me.

Wondered about that too when I first saw the movie. My only explanation is that although the Barret was in the same location, both Sanbourn and James were lower to the ground and slightly covered. If you remember, Ralph Fiennes' character fired the first shot and was slightly off. He mentioned that the Barrett's "anchor" had fallen out, and he lifted the Barret up slightly to reposition it. In the process of moving the Barrett, he stood up slightly as well, exposing himself.

You are correct sir. Also if you notice, there is a bit of vegetation in front of them, gave them a bit of camouflage.

I bought this on Blu last week, and it was my first time watching. AMAZING movie, thought it was fantastic. Not really something you see everyday... and it looks great in HD. Can't ask for more.

^^^^^ THIS. :lecture

Upon 2nd viewing, it might just top my list as best of 2009.
For all the movies that I saw and loved last year, this one is definitely my favorite. Hell I went to see it alone after work one day 'cause it was playing down the street from my job and was a limited release. Kathryn Bigelow did an amazing job with this movie and Jeremy Renner is awesome, I want to see him in more movies now!

I'm gonna have to rent this one tonight then.
:tap *Has disappointed look on his face*
