The new Batman movie is getting pushed back again. Probably won't start filming until 2018--if everything goes smoothly from now on--which means 2019-20 for the film release. Batfleck just finished rehab so he's got plenty of time for the bad reviews for Justice League to throw him into another downward spiral to the point he finally announces he's not doing a Batman film. I have finally completely stopped giving a **** about this film.

She's coming...... that should take the sting out of the Batman movie :)

I'm kind of getting more, and more excited for the movie because at least things are kind of up in the air, and there's some hope that there could be some major changes with this universe if Affleck leaves. I'm not saying there will be a full on reboot, but maybe some type of soft reboot that just really tries to ignore everything that has come before it. I mean, already it seems like they're shifting this universe to be more Batman focused with Suicide Squad 2, Gotham City Sirens, Nightwing, and The Batman all being movies that seem to be getting the most traction. Everything else seems to be taking a backseat.

As much as I like Batman, I wish DC would spend more energy getting Superman right. We've had a ton of Batman films--and therefore a ton of Batman merchandise. I'd love to see Superman get the same attention, if only for the possibility of getting more Superman stuff. :lol I do wish DC would at least switch gears from the tone of the new films. I'm sure I sound like a broken record, but the new films are so damn pessimistic that I'm desperate for a little positivity in the characters and storylines. These delays with Batman may be the chance to set their universe right.

Oh, they could take the rest of the films from the DCEU, and shove em you know where if it meant I got a great Superman movie. It's a joke they haven't been able to do so in the last 20+ years. I mean, I don't think they've even done anything to top the helicopter rescue from the first Reeve film. Not that I really like comparing the new films to the Reeve movies as people just twist it, and say I can't get over Reeve. That's not the case. We can aim our sights way higher then those movies, but all the movies since have simply missed the mark, and missed it by a mile.

I agree with you other post Zod in that a fresh, nondepressing superman would be good. I still really like the original movies because of how fun they were. Superman doesn't have to be too brooding.

Honestly I liked MOS...

I did too--with the exception of the suicide by tornado and Superman killing Zod. There were some great moments in the film. One of my most favorites is the absolute unadulterated joy in Superman's face when he was learning to fly. I need more of that in future films. Not to say that I don't like this pissed off mother ****er, but the mad heat vision eye face should be used sparingly.

This is one of my favorite moments in Superman The Movie because it was so jarring to see Superman going through these emotions, but it worked because Reeve portrayed Superman as positive and hopeful until that moment.

Superman in BvS doesn't have any good emotions to balance out the bad ones. He's just alternates between moping and anger.

Yeah def agree on that tornado thing... really thought that was stupid. I sorta get the Zod thing because he's broken with nothing to live for so what's the point of going on... but they could've spun it in a bunch of different directions too... but that didn't irritate me as much as the tornado thing did.

But you are right there is supposed to be a joyful happy side to superman as well. I remember being younger watching the flick and the evil superman doing his deeds and finding it bothersome! LOL

I've noticed it as a trend with everyone wanting to make things dark and depressing. You need a little comedy and some lightheartedness thrown in too. It can't be all doom and gloom!

I've come to think of Snyder's DCEU Superman movies as Boyhood for the Man of Steel. MoS, you get an emotional, immature, and, frankly, irresponsible Superman who's just growing into the role he's supposed to inhabit, and then you follow that up with the teenage angst of BvS, where he almost doesn't know if he wants the responsibility and he's constantly moping about that **** or reflecting on his place in the world. I'm still hoping that Snyder follows through and we get a fully realized Superman in JL.

The Christ allegories he stuffs his movies with kind of provide a roadmap to where they're going, if it's to be believed, and I think that's part of the reason why he didn't play Supes' death for shock value, so much as for character development; that idea of realization through resurrection; that he'll become the embodiment of what we view as Superman when he comes back, and that his being capable of making that ultimate sacrifice was the turning point for his becoming a full-fledged hero. If we don't get any evil Superman BS and that pic of him smiling with the rest of the JL is anything to go by, hopefully, it might just pay off.

And, *******, as much as I like the BvS Superman, what I wouldn't give to have an HT Cavill that's, legit, smiling. That would be Superman.

I can see what Snyder is going for with Superman, but I think he's doing a **** job of it. Introducing Superman in one movie then killing him in the next (then immediately hinting at his return) is ridiculous and extremely short-sighted. Where do you go from there? Every threat aimed at Superman from now on in the DC film universe is no longer a true threat. You can't kill him again because the audience will call ********. There are several ways Superman's progression into the Superman we know and love could have been done--DC just took a cheap shortcut. Doomsday should have been saved for a few films down the road after the audience built a relationship with this Superman so that his death had an impact. The same applies to Batman. A new Batman is introduced as a rage machine with only a flash of Robin's suit as a hint of his history. The audience doesn't know this Batman, what he's been through, or why he was so easily set off by Luthor (and somehow unable to do any detective work to figure out he was being played). Then BOOM!--he's setting up the Justice League because he's upset the guy he was going to kill (until he heard his mom's name) was killed by someone else. Now we'll get a film with minimal introductions as to who these characters are in this universe, a forced team-up, and a villain that doesn't matter because not only is DC not killing off any of these guys for a repeat of what they just did with Superman, but Steppenwolf is just a teaser for Darkseid.

DC isn't providing any actual storytelling with these films. It's just one comic book splash page after another to lead up to whatever future film they're trying to advertise. I'm desperately hoping that someone will storm in and get everything together. I thought Johns was going to be that guy, but I don't know if I trust he'll have the power to keep WB out of the actual filmmaking.

At 33 years old?

The best Superman movies in the last 36 years imo are All-Star Superman and Superman vs The Elite. I was so mad when I saw them, saying "Why can't they make these into the live action flicks?"

Those animated films are fantastic. I'm glad I have those to watch every now and then. I still can't make myself sit through BvS again. It's been on tv a lot lately, but when I start watching it I just end up getting pissed and change the channel. As much as I hated Luthor when I saw it in the theater, he's even worse to me when I catch one of his scenes now. His stupid voice and quirks are just so bad.
