That Skull Knight looks good! I'm reading Berserk now--I started it a long time ago but didn't stick with it. I'm at the Egg of the Perfect World part. I'm going to be pissed when I catch up and have to wait for each new release.

Some guys have been with it from the very beginning or in the late 90s... I got into it a few years back and it happen to coincide with single longest hiatus the series ever got, which was over a year IIRC. Now whenever it's on hiatus, it's about 6 months or so. It doesn't hurt too bad anymore since it's just expected.

The bright side is, from the latest chapter, it's definitely getting to the ending finally and it's going back to monthly releases... for now.

I didn't realize you were reading it. What do you think so far? I got crows to start it and he's a bit past where you're at right now.

I always liked the art and designs for the characters, but I love that I can read so much of the story now without waiting for the next installment. I'll be honest, reading it has me looking at the Prime statue more than I was before. I know it has issues, but I'm so impressed with Prime's quality on my Batman Beyond statue that I know their Guts statue will turn out amazing. That price tag tho...

I mean if you're not a Berserk purist, it's fine. But the eyebrows on that thing drive me nuts. While I love the direction they took with the base... I think there comes a point where it's got TOO much going on with it.

When I first read it, I was addicted. I'd read it in a few hour blocks, I couldn't turn it away. A lot of people, including myself hate the art now since Miura is doing it digitally we believe. I always appreciated the high detailed work that is still grungy looking, if that's the right way to describe it. Although, the last couple chapters have looked nice. The amount of line work he can stick in one panel sometimes is stunning.

Aside from a really, and I mean really long filler section of the manga (that literally took like 15 years to get out of from hiatuses) that proceeds where it's at now... Berserk is one of the few stories I've read that has held on to it's integrity in the sense that the main story is never not interesting or compelling. I really can't wait for the next chapter at the end of next month, since I think it's going to compound the story for a big finale.

I totally get the "too busy" sentiment regarding the base. I remember reading somewhere that the guy who sculpted the statue said he didn't know if he'd get to do the character again so he put everything he wanted on there. I'd definitely prefer it with less.

I started off reading it bit by bit, but I've noticed that the time I'm spending reading is growing every time I pick back up again. :lol It's tough to stop because it's so easy to get sucked into the story.

Vagabond is great too. When I read Berserk a few times, I jumped into that. It's a slow burn. It doesn't have Berserk level violence in it, but it's more about inner reflection and growth of Miyamoto Musashi, the main character. If you like Guts, you'd like Musashi. Both badasses. A lot people start with one of these two mangas and ends up reading the other one.

The art is fantastic too.

I love his color work that he does for promotional stuff and covers of the manga.

The creator, Takehiko Inoue came to NYC to a Japanese Manga store and painted a mural of Musashi and another main character.

His art was so popular in Japan, they gave him an art exhibit show.

This is probably my favorite art he's ever done. It was like a 30 foot high painting of Musashi that was made for the entrance to it.

I never have enough time to read! and it's weird... the older I get, the less I enjoy/want to do it! Find myself getting distracted and not wanting to do it.

I read for a couple hours every night--whether it's books or comics. Unfortunately, my retention isn't what it used to be otherwise I'd be a ******* genius.

Jesus Christ that ****ing trailer.

Slo-mo Wonder Woman hair flip -- CHECK
Stupid full face mask for Cyborg -- CHECK
******* Aquaman riding on top of the Batmobile because reasons -- CHECK
Weird Batmobile spider thing --CHECK
DC yet again proving they're doing an awful job with these new films --CHECK

However, I commend their restraint from showing the villain and Superman coming back from the dead. Probably in Trailer #2.

Hardly even looks like a live-action film. I don't think I can muster much excitement for Batman shooting at cartoon flying things in his batmobile.

I know I sound like a broken record, but I have a difficult time caring about anything in the DC film universe. I wish they'd had a couple solo films to establish the characters instead of cramming them all into a film at once. We'll get 5 minutes of backstory (maybe) to establish they're place in the world, but I'm supposed to somehow give a **** about them? It's not enough to throw some people in costumes (especially when the costumes are bad) and show them jumping and hitting stuff.

It's equally as true every time you say it. As Jye said in the thread - the 'Unite' is completely unearned. I'll be amazed if I feel the slightest bit of investment in the characters or story in this film.
