I really never got the insane internet hate train that popped up for Rob Liefeld. Good artist? No. Worst artist currently working in the industry? Not by a long shot. Worst creative in terms of personality currently working in the industry? Again, not even close. I'd probably drink a beer with him.

He's definitely done some shady **** during his career. Marc Silvestri separated himself and Top Cow from Image because Liefeld was using company money to pay off personal debt. Then, when Liefeld had his Maximum Comics company outside of Image, he used Image artists for Maximum Comics promo work, tried to steal the artists away from Image, and didn't have a great record for paying artists for their work. He's also started **** with other comic book artists like Alan Moore and Rags Morales about the quality of their work. The Image founders didn't vote him out of Image for nothing.

All that being said, my personal interaction with him was this: I go to his booth to get a Deadpool print signed by him--which he was only at for a couple hours each day. He's reading something on his phone and doesn't acknowledge me even though no one else was there. After about 20 seconds I say "Hi" and he still doesn't look up for a few seconds. Finally, he sees me and asks "Which print do you want?" I tell him I'd like the Deadpool one. While he signs it, I tell him that it's great he came to a convention in Oklahoma and hopefully more big names will make their way here. He says "Yeah," scoots the signed print to me and tells me it's $30. I paid him and said thanks while he just went back to looking at his phone. It's the only convention in Oklahoma that he's attended--probably because Wizard World made him--and if he treated everyone like that then he may as well not come back.

He's just has no self-insight or self-awareness. He really comes off as someone who has antisocial personality disorder symptomology. I've heard of him treating people like they are objects and don't matter. Again I think that's partially due to him not having as well developed cortical regions of his brain that facilitate warmth and empathy. He's very much the mindset of self-enrichment at the cost of others.

He always reminds me of a kid that got too much money and celebrity at too young an age and didn't know how to handle it. Instead, he blames other people for the negative things that happened to him back then when his behavior was the cause. Deadpool exploding in popularity is probably the worst thing that could have happened since his ego has been even more inflated.

I walked right past him at NYCC last year; he was just walking around the show floor. It was kool.

Deadpool's success definitely boosted his ego. Wasn't Deadpool just a generic ninja/assassin-type character before another writer came in and made him what he is today? I thought I heard that somewhere but I could be wrong.

Deadpool has always been a smart ass and was written that way for a few miniseries. Joe Kelly's Deadpool series was where he got much more fleshed out and where he became more like what you see today--much more over the top and nonstop cracking jokes.

Getting old means I'm out of touch with the young actors and musicians that are popular now. I tried watching the MTV Video Awards and didn't know 80% of the people on there. I just quit watching because I've become the stereotypical "Music today is ****" old man. Same goes for actors. All the guys look the same so I don't know which is which. The girls have turned into "the hot blond one", "the hot brunette" one, the one that "thinks she's cute", and "the why does anyone think that girl is cute" one.

This is what I imagine Zod looks like on his couch, watching his new-fangled tele-vison.

My wife has just confirmed that Veil is 100% accurate. Also, I seem to yell at the tv at a considerably greater rate than is acceptable.

Yeah, I think that's what I read. He still acts like everything about Deadpool is thanks to him. :lol

That's still cool to meet a Batman (minus George Clooney who is not a real Batman)

I want to get a Ghost in the Darkness autograph.

:lol

I don't know much about Kilmer beyond he was a pain to work with on Batman Forever. Maybe he was cranky, and is a cool guy in real life.

It'll be interesting to see how much he charges for an autograph. I'm not going to be surprised if it's $100. If it's not too much $ (and not too much of a pain in the ass) I'll probably get one. Though the tough part will be deciding if I get an Iceman or Batman pic.

I was aware of some of his shady business decisions, but even then I still think there's far worse people still working in the industry who've pretty much gotten away with murder over the years.

That convention story, on the other hand, sucks. He seems like a weird guy, I've spoken to other people who've met him and he was apparently great to talk to - very energetic and friendly - and I've also spoken to people who reported the same kind of scenario you encountered. Maybe he's bipolar...
