I know where you guys are. I have been there before. SSW pieces that I "wanted" to be great. The prod pics were so amazing.....I have always loved Indy but couldn't see myself buying an Indy collectible. I grabbed this as soon as I could get the info entered in the computer......the BS Pass video sealed the deal.

These pics do NOT depict that portrait sculpt and the clothing does NOT show that level of attention to detail. To chalk up the change to lighting (especially the mouth) is less than genuine. If teeth were genitals, the sculpt went from a rated R to XXX. :naughty

Seroiusly though, SS invested the time and $$ to producing NEW pictures. Why do you think that is?:

A) So you can see the exact same thing under different lighting?
B) So they can ensure that you know exactly what you are buying?

If the sculpt didn't change, why the new pics? The quality on the prototype pics were great.

If I get in on the first wave I will cancel before it ships. That is how concerned I am. If I am in on the second, I will hold off to see in hand pics. It might still be a good piece and I might be able to live with the changes. But I will keep it KNOWING it is not the same sculpt.

I wouldn't expect to hear from Trev on this one.

As I feared !!!
they where going to same thing as they did with Aragorn pf.
DAM !!! I mean still looks good but MAN !!
I hope I dont get first shippment.
I want to see some pics of the real thing first so I can make my mind.

:( :( :( :(

They always post new pictures when the production piece is available. Does that mean that all sideshow products have new sculpts? No, they just want to show the production paint job, clothes, etc. I'm telling you, you're panicking for nothing.

Damn, looks like he is suffering from the Aragorn syndrome : still an amazing product but hindered by the production paint job.

I was just going to post this. They changed Aragorn and it looks like they changed Indy.

They went from giving Indiana Jones the "Free-Spirited" look he had in the prototype to making him look very serious.

I don't get it. Why can't we ever get what we pre-order....(as in the prototype, or close to it) ?

Call me concerned.

Wat you guys think of the packaging for Him? I'm actualy quite dissappointed in it :(

Exactly as expected. Very bland. Very cookie-cutter. Very vanilla. Very boring. SO VERY LUCASFILM.

Eh. At least the finished production PF will look awesome on display. :rock

Yes totaly agree!!!

I also don't see what's so different about the sculpt. I think people are freaking out for no reason. It's obviously production paint apps (which actually look BETTER, imho) and photographic lighting that are making it look different.

They did not re-post pics of the Cave Troll LSB and I got two different ones that were BOTH green....not gray. I had them (Sideshow) open a few more and they said that they were all that color. I would not have ordered it if I knew it was flat army green.

In fact, I can't remember them re-posting any product pics 'unless' there is a change, and even then some don't get updated. Based on your assertion, there should be no prod pics of shipped or in-stock items that were the same as the ones that were put up pre-production.

Doing a cursory scan of the LoTR section (in-stock items), I see no LSB or diorama pages where the pics have changed from the original announcement. The Predator Maquette gallery is the same as the announcement pics, trust me, I drooled over it from day 1.

If memory serves, the times where this has happened were times where there was controversy of collectors upset 'because' things changed. I think Aragorn at the Black Gates (on Brego) had a prod pic "update" that really upset folks due to changes. (I may be wrong on this tho)

I am not being adversarial, I just can't find an example of your statement that this is standard operating procedure. Please post a few product examples where Sideshow "updated" product pics where there was 'not' a change in the final product. You might help me feel better.

Well, they always post production pictures for 12" figures and PFs to my knowledge. It's certainly nothing out of the ordinary.

Exactly. Nor is it out of the ordinary for production pieces to vary slightly from the prototypes (paint apps, sourced clothing, etc). In fact, you'd be hard-pressed to find any finished Sideshow product that looks EXACTLY like its prototype.

And I'm still not seeing a changed or modified sculpt here.

He does seem to have lost a bit of the smirk he had in the original pics, definitely not a deal breaker for me, but I do wish it looked like the pre-production pics. Im definitely keeping my order.

I think it's due to how the eyebrows and mouth were painted, not an alteration in the sculpt.

I guess we'll find out for sure soon enough, though.

You know, we get this every single time a new piece is about to ship. We get photos and everybody freaks out until they get theirs in-hand and, for the most part, they are happy.

I can see some changes to it, but, eh, I still like it. I'm sure it'll be fine in person. Still the best-looking high-end Harrison Ford piece out there, IMO. I'm gauging this against the Han Solo PF. I like that piece quite a bit and this one is miles ahead of that one.

Other than differences in paint apps (which, again, I actually prefer over the prototype) the only real change I see is the storm flaps thing on the jacket (which is a retarded Lucasfilm thing, apparently).

From the early pics so far (including the in-hand pics from Cornerstore Comics) I am quite pleased with how this turned out.

agreed. And lighting, I mean the jacket looks more green than brown to me in those production photos! :horror

I'll wait for some 'in-hand' photos, but I bet it will look great!

For the record, I think the eyebrows are painted WAY better on the production piece. They blend better and look more natural than those caterpillars on the pre-production piece.

Agreed. The eyes also appear more green than brown, which is also more accurate than the proto.

Can't wait to get mine. :chew
