But it's somewhat annoying when people automatically leap to DefCon 5 with every new picture/announcement.

Criticism that leads to something constructive is good... Wailing at the stars and shaking your fist into the heavens for no other apparent reason than you like to make noise can get tiresome in its repetition.

It's more annoying to me to see everyone take their medicine, despite what SS's offering, and smile.

I think a mixture of the two is healthy and--oh yeah, normal.

Why do some of you keep saying "let's wait for in-hand photos" and simply ignoring the corner store pics. They show you that the lighting made the jacket and hat look lighter in the SS pics and they also show a dead-on likeness of Harrison Ford. These complaints are for nothing.

It has to do with people. Some people see and focus the positives and look at the glass as half full. Some people only see the negatives and focus on them exclusively. Just because people choose to focus on the positives doesn't mean they are somehow ignorant to any flaws it might have. They are just not the type to whine about it nonstop. If they don't like it they wont buy it and that's all they need to know about the matter.

I personally would rather be around a bunch of fanboys then a bunch of people impossible to please. At least the environment would be friendly, non stressful, and non combative.

That's exactly what I said.
What isn't normal, and as Jesseawilson has correctly pointed out, is flipping out incessantly over everything all the time. Is an item ever perfect?-- Perfection is unattainable, just ask Gawain about his green belt, but do we have to wade through the freaking out to get to the constructive and enjoyable conversations on here?

Exactly. Wouldn't that be nice if people could agree to disagree and discuss these products as if we were all fans and happy to be collecting in a time when these products are readily available and at such a high quality as opposed to twenty+ years ago?

It used to be like that here.................

With population growth what you loose is a sense of family and mutual respect for each others opinions and feelings.

Looks great. Bag strap shold go under the jacket, no?

Should just stick to the sandbox were people know how to have a good time. :lol

Thats pretty much why I stick to the video game section. :lol There is just too much going crazy both ways anymore even for me.

Totally agree with ya Jesse.

I do miss the old times. Growth has not been the best thing for SSF IMO.

Dude STFU, disappointed in a box? Are you disappointed that the styrofoam on the inside is plain white too?

:rotfl :rotfl :rotfl :rotfl :rotfl :rotfl As if it wasn't clearly obvious with the Star Wars line, LFL wants all the boxes in their prospective lines to look alike. I doubt Sideshow had much to say about it.

It's not complaining and it's not negativity. People are just saying what they feel about it. I can see if people were saying, "This sucks" or "Sideshow can go to hell"...uncalled for comments. But for God's sake, not everything is going to be perfect to everyone. I agree with IrishJedi that if we keep it constructing and honest there is nothing wrong with disagreeing with one another and even not liking a product. It's just reality and I refuse to sugar coat.

I'm just gonna say this, not to rehash an old flame war, but to state an observation. Reading your "critique" in the 12in Indy Adventure Gear thread and even the "limp whip" BS in the photo thread had me thinking (and still wondering if) you despised the figure and thought it was the most horrible thing since VD. That wasn't based on any other members' comments, just reading your continual, and repetitive "critique." You were so harsh and overly critical in condemning all the mistakes, that other board members had to explain to us where you were coming from.

Now others, here are questioning the negativity of your posts, and you're jumping on them for doing so with emotional comments like "for God's sake," and "I refuse to sugar coat." If you're going to spew fire, brimstone and damnation about every Indy piece you see, expect others to post contradictory posts to yours and deal with it, the same way you're expecting them to deal with you.

Look, if you don't like it, cancel it. Then people who really love it can own one.
I've been a die-hard Raiders of the Lost Ark fan since 1981. I've been collecting Raiders memorabelia since then and more heavily for the past 15 years. I am a completist. I collect anything and everything that has to do with Raiders of the Lost Ark. Not Temple of Doom, not Last Crusade and not Crystal Skull. When I heard that Sideshow was doing not one, but two scaled 'Raiders' figures, I was elated. The proto pics were near perfect and very evident they were from 'Raiders' as was advertised and not from the other 3 films. That, to me, was heavenly news. I loved all the Sideshow stuff I'd seen to date. Many of which I've seen in person at various conventions.

Fast forward to weeks ago. I find out Sideshow has changed their 'Raiders' figures into a basic 'Indiana Jones' figures. The changes made may not be noticed by casual fans but for the ones who have been waiting for this for a LONG time it is a let down in a fairly major way. Some of you cannot grasp that, but that's okay.

While I still think that both the 12" and PF are the best of their kind to date, the attitude that perfection cannot be achieved doesn't sit well with me. If you take your time, do your homework and have the will to make it as good as it can be, not close enough, it will be. You just have to have the will and desire to make it as perfect as can be. To the die-hard fans, the ones who care about the details, the lack of attention to these details is pretty disappointing. It is something that will always bug us. Again, many of you can't grasp that and that's okay. The die-hards have just been waiting for so long and thought that based on what was shown to us to place our orders that our dreams had been realized...only to be let down. Instead of the 'Raiders' figure we've been waiting for for years we now have something different. Something basic. This is what we've been used to, thus a much harder let-down. Its just the same old, same old to us. Our hopes dashed.

I won't be cancelling my figure orders because as a completist I want them for my collection. I'm sure some of you can understand and appreciate that. However, I've been SO looking forward to displaying them as many of you have been, only now I will most likely not. They will probably be boxed up with other pieces of my collection that I don't have room for. I'm sure some of you cannot even come to grasp that mentality but you don't have to, the same way I don't think any of you are crazy for not caring about the same details that bother me. It is simply a matter of personal opinions and habits.

I know many of you will read this and understand completely. I don't think I've been hard on Sideshow, just realistic in voicing my feelings and opinions. I just can't stomach it when others tell me I'm nuts or a complainer for that. It makes as much sense to me as why Sideshow or LFL made the changes that prompted my response to begin with.

Thenammagazine,
In your defense I will admit I was angry about seeing the changes and my first posts were more of a harsh tone. I can understand why people who didn't know me had no idea of the passion or knowledge I have surrounding Raiders as I have as well as the wait I've had for these figures. I can understand how many would think I was coming off too strong. However, I don't take the same tone with those who are loving everything they see without question as I've been hit with. I was clear that if you love it to death that's cool and I'm happy for anyone who does. So, why such negativity about my opinions, even of late? I feel they are just as valid as those who love anything Sideshow puts out regardless of how inaccurate it may be. Do you see where I'm coming from? Why does anyone care if I feel strongly about the small details even if anyone else does not? How is that any less valid or crazy or petty? I don't think any of the opinions here are petty. How can I? They're just personal interpretations. I want to get along with everyone, not told I'm crazy for paying attention to the details others don't care to.

Don't hit yourself in the head, that's not healthy. My son did that to himself when he was two years old. :D

Bro. Look. You're expecting perfection from mass market toys and statues. I don't care if you've been an Indy fan since before Lucas squirted out the idea. It really doesn't give you the right unless you've done better, to condemn a company for producing something and members for questioning the content of your posts. Many others are starting to see your posts the same way I did and all you do is bash them for not seeing that a buckle needs to be moved or a whisker wasn't painted. If you continue to post stuff like this, expect others to post how crazy they think you are. I'm sure the dude who paid $50k for Elvis' toenail feels the same way about it that you feel about Indy. Excuse me and everyone else who thinks that's just a tad coo coo.

EDIT: Additionally, calling people the equivalent of a "Sideshow Apologist" because they don't agree with your criticisms is grounds for rebuttal in and of itself.
