On the other hand, one word from them along the lines of "we haven't changed the sculpt" would quell a lot of people's doubts.

I completely agree. I know Pablo V drops into the Statue Forum often (or at least he used to). Things like these get settles quickly and cleanly. I am sure they have people monitoring these places to get feedback etc...just wish they would pop in to ease constructive concerns.

Sometimes, however, the criticisms are warranted and could even be constructive.

There needs to be a happy medium somehow. Being stuck between Apologists™ who want NO negative discussion whatsoever and Haters™ who can't ever find anything positive to say about Sideshow is no fun. :monkey4

Well said... I hope my thoughts have been expressed as constructive concern (looking for them to be eased) and not just starting fires.

I want this to be as good as the proto pics.

Assuming there is no sculpt change........the weight of the blame for such negativity must lay with SS. Whether we agree on how good/bad the final product looks....I think we can all agree pics this poorly done (lighting) should never have seen the light of day. People with point and shoots on Ebay do better product representation than this.

Even those who are not concerned (or like it more) even are saying "I am sure it is the lighting" etc. We, as customers, should not have to squint and use our imagination to try to determine if it is the same sculpt.

Shame on you SS.

Here's my PF...

My Mini PF that is... :lol

I guess then I won't continue to post to the enjoyment of all.

I've gotten some support and kind comments from a few of you here and I do appreciate that as well as the understanding. However, I've been told by many on and off this site that for the most part the views here are very one-sided, not subject to much debate or question and with little to no room for a difference of opinion. In such a short amount of time these people have been proven completely and 100% correct. Have fun in your unrealistic, condescending and one-sided approach to your hobbies. This just isn't the place for me.

It used to be like that here.................

With population growth what you loose is a sense of family and mutual respect for each others opinions and feelings.

Don't get too nostalgic Jesse. I remember your fist post on the LOTRG (or was it the statue forums?) Heck, between everyone slamming Josh for being a fanboy and Mordor trashing every product release things were never perfect. And we were a small tight group. Heck, we were probably the reason sites just like this one started :)

Memory just has a way of filtering out the stuff we would like to forget.

I also don't see what's so different about the sculpt. I think people are freaking out for no reason. It's obviously production paint apps (which actually look BETTER, imho) and photographic lighting that are making it look different.

:lecture QFT :lecture

So do rabid Chicken Littles follow LFL?! :horror

I've been a die-hard Raiders of the Lost Ark fan since 1981. I've been collecting Raiders memorabelia since then and more heavily for the past 15 years. I am a completist. I collect anything and everything that has to do with Raiders of the Lost Ark. Not Temple of Doom, not Last Crusade and not Crystal Skull. When I heard that Sideshow was doing not one, but two scaled 'Raiders' figures, I was elated. The proto pics were near perfect and very evident they were from 'Raiders' as was advertised and not from the other 3 films. That, to me, was heavenly news. I loved all the Sideshow stuff I'd seen to date. Many of which I've seen in person at various conventions.

Fast forward to weeks ago. I find out Sideshow has changed their 'Raiders' figures into a basic 'Indiana Jones' figures. The changes made may not be noticed by casual fans but for the ones who have been waiting for this for a LONG time it is a let down in a fairly major way. Some of you cannot grasp that, but that's okay.

While I still think that both the 12" and PF are the best of their kind to date, the attitude that perfection cannot be achieved doesn't sit well with me. If you take your time, do your homework and have the will to make it as good as it can be, not close enough, it will be. You just have to have the will and desire to make it as perfect as can be. To the die-hard fans, the ones who care about the details, the lack of attention to these details is pretty disappointing. It is something that will always bug us. Again, many of you can't grasp that and that's okay. The die-hards have just been waiting for so long and thought that based on what was shown to us to place our orders that our dreams had been realized...only to be let down. Instead of the 'Raiders' figure we've been waiting for for years we now have something different. Something basic. This is what we've been used to, thus a much harder let-down. Its just the same old, same old to us. Our hopes dashed.

I won't be cancelling my figure orders because as a completist I want them for my collection. I'm sure some of you can understand and appreciate that. However, I've been SO looking forward to displaying them as many of you have been, only now I will most likely not. They will probably be boxed up with other pieces of my collection that I don't have room for. I'm sure some of you cannot even come to grasp that mentality but you don't have to, the same way I don't think any of you are crazy for not caring about the same details that bother me. It is simply a matter of personal opinions and habits.

I know many of you will read this and understand completely. I don't think I've been hard on Sideshow, just realistic in voicing my feelings and opinions. I just can't stomach it when others tell me I'm nuts or a complainer for that. It makes as much sense to me as why Sideshow or LFL made the changes that prompted my response to begin with.

Thenammagazine,
In your defense I will admit I was angry about seeing the changes and my first posts were more of a harsh tone. I can understand why people who didn't know me had no idea of the passion or knowledge I have surrounding Raiders as I have as well as the wait I've had for these figures. I can understand how many would think I was coming off too strong. However, I don't take the same tone with those who are loving everything they see without question as I've been hit with. I was clear that if you love it to death that's cool and I'm happy for anyone who does. So, why such negativity about my opinions, even of late? I feel they are just as valid as those who love anything Sideshow puts out regardless of how inaccurate it may be. Do you see where I'm coming from? Why does anyone care if I feel strongly about the small details even if anyone else does not? How is that any less valid or crazy or petty? I don't think any of the opinions here are petty. How can I? They're just personal interpretations. I want to get along with everyone, not told I'm crazy for paying attention to the details others don't care to.

Most understand you're a die hard fan but I don't think you get that somethings are out of SS control. Not saying it all is as they've made many a mistake that was of their own making. I just think you and a few of the new members who are Indy Die Hards are going a little over the top. Thats just my POV though.

In a strange twist of fate my Reg. Indy PF ordered from Dark Shadows is out for delivery today and my Ex. 12 inch Indy ordered from SS is yet to ship. I never expected to get the PF first.

you remember my first post on the SF on 11-30-05 of:

"That is correct December 28th...."?

Congratz to you and your good memory!

I was referring to this forum of which I was member 72 way back in the old EZ Board days (way before any of the examples you listed ever happened)and yes it was completely different before. I never said things were perfect (why is it so many people like to put words in other peoples mouths?), I said it was better before in reference to this comment;

"Wouldn't that be nice if people could agree to disagree and discuss these products as if we were all fans and happy to be collecting in a time when these products are readily available and at such a high quality as opposed to twenty+ years ago?"

I have no idea who the hell "Mordor" is nor have I ever "slammed" him. The problems Josh and I have had in the past rarely even had anything to do with Sideshow product.

Why do you think so few old timers are still left? Sure some just loose interest or move on for other reasons. But for a lot of people it became an unfriendly place to be so they left.

Here's a couple of 'small, in-hand, camera phone' pictures courtesy of Corner Store Comics. Looks like this one needs a tiny bit of futzing...but looks pretty cool! Enjoy...

Looks great! Plus they have at listed as "in stock" so hopefully their preorders have gone out.

Are you sure? It seems that some are even worse than SW fans. :lol

Uhhh...no:(...:lol

I have never posted anything in the SW or LOTR sections so i have no idea whats going on there, rarely post anything in the Indy section, not a fan, just curious about the PF and the upcoming Takara Indy.

Imagine trying to do laps in a bog. :rotfl

As far as the Takara, I'm still not so sure that wasn't a rumor. And after Hasbro's doomed line, Medicom's failed Auschwitz Indy and Sideshow's threatening release, I don't think they'll even try if they haven't announced anything to date.

So newbies here have no right to speak? Wow, grade-school hazing, internet style. Nice work.

It's not that, it's just that some people, very passionate people (or extremists in my book) tend to just whine and whine about the zipper being 1/8" too thick or the Pantone color of the jacket being a bit off, or ridiculous stuff like that, and as much as I understand their love for characters and franchises, it's a bit annoying to see pages and pages of complaints and negativity...

Of course there are things like the body being a bit flimsy or head-sculpts being off, but that's obvious details, while excessive nit-picking is just annoying and sad...
that's all!

Adam is shipping my order now and I must say if those production picts are accurate Ill be very happy. I think its an improvement over the prototype.
