I just got an email saying that the waitlist for the ex is going to close soon and that if I wanted a regular that I could get it. I really want the ex though.

Sounds like an attempt to move the regular editions... the ES for both versions is huge in my opinion especially with the economy how it is and Christmas around the corner.

I don't like the marketing gimmicks or sales ploys that Sideshow seems to be using lately. First they send emails about Vader needing some one to choke- urging us to buy another figure. Felt like spam mail to me. Now, they want us to move on the regular Indy by scaring us about the scarcity of the exclusive version. I bet you there have been many cancelations on the exclusive Indy.

Makes me feel like Sideshow thinks I am dumb. They also recently implemented a program that asks whether I am sure I want to cancel an Item and then prompts me to give explanations for canceling. I know they are hurting but we all are and it seems they are trying way too hard to get every last penny out of the consumer that they can.

i know what you mean though, i wanted to punch Jeff in the face when I thought my WL converted for Indy when i saw the email but he's trying to sell me a regular. i'm going with DSC for my regular.

Well, the thing is... I think it's a lie. I think they are trying to move the regular versions because the ES is too high. Even the ES on the exclusive is too large. Most items that have an es of 1000 take a while to sell out and then go on second chance especially if they aren't Marvel. That along with the economy and this time of the year. I don't think there have been only a few cancellations to report.

The whole trying to sell me another figure through email reeks of desperation. I am not mad but it is annoying. Feels like they are trying to manipulate me.

I just cancelled my Exclusive...it looks great and awesome and I hope to get one in the future but at this point I need the money more than anything. So if you're on the wait list...there's another one availible!

I for one have no problem with SS trying to solicit more sales any way they can. They are a business after all and their number one goal is to make a profit. I suspect that our current ecomony has hurt them quite a bit. If comes down to hard sale tactics to improve business or having to cut back on their workforce, I'm sure they would rather try the hard sell.

Well since SS is a company that we all here support, I don't see it as spam. It's not like they are trying to sell us viagra or a time share.

Just because you like and support a company doesn't necessarily mean that you want to get ads sent to you. At the very least, there should be a way to opt out of them. (To be fair, it may be that they are only sending them to people who are signed up for the "express updates" and if that's the case then it's acceptable.)

I don't mind express updates when sold out items are back in stock. If they send me an express update trying to sell me Wai Lin, I'll get annoyed.

The waitlist closing on the exclusive seems right to me. I got on the list right after it soldout, and it only converted a few weeks ago during the 1st shipment. Thats the longest I ever waited, and for 1000 edition size I imagine alot of people keep their order.

That's what I got, and I don't mind getting an email like this but I'm just afraid I'll order the regular one and then people will start getting their waitlists converted. Then I'll be pissed.

And though I know it's sour grapes, it ticks me off that so many are reselling the EXes on eBay (for waaay too much). I want one for ME!
