So other than having a bright color palette it's the same? I don't see it as any better or worse... just different.

It's rated R, but what does that really mean? We'll see a few extra splatters of blood?

In the book, you see Barbara's naked body covered in blood. You even see her nipples in a few panels.

Jim Gordon is stripped naked and you see his butt and *****. He's also escorted by some very disturbing little dwarf guys.

It's pretty graphic stuff. There's no way they're gonna animate his dong or Barbara's naked ****s. But they're making such a huge deal about how it's rated R, so why not? Foreign cartoons for adults wouldn't shy away from nudity. Even though this is being released for adults, I still don't think Warner Brothers has the cahones to do that. All it takes is one mom blogging about how she bought it for her kid cause some guy at Best Buy put it in the wrong animation section and they'd have a lawsuit on their hands. Won't someone please think of the children??

Having an R rating doesn't necessarily mean it will have graphic nudity or more gore. Sometimes they give it that rating due to the content--what's hinted at but perhaps not explicitly shown, like ****.

Nah, the R rating saves them. That's up to individuals to pay attention to - that's why they are there! If people are too stupid to check, that's on them.

I don't remember the original book having graphic nudity. I only have the 2008 reprint and I don't think it shows anything graphic...except for Gordon's saggy butt. :lol

I wish Bruce Timm (and Paul Dini) would just head over to Marvel Studios where they would be appreciated. Or Pixar. Anything but stay at WB Animation.

The Killing Joke looks so cheap it makes me sad.

Marvel isn't doing anything with animation, DC is at least still releasing movies consistently, and I believe they're working on Gods and Monsters.

And Pixar/Disney have 2D on life support, so they wouldn't be appreciated there either.

Better they stay at DC for when they're needed. Which I hope it's soon.
