Michael McCuistion, Kristopher Carter and Lolita Ritmanis did Batman Beyond and Justice League, they're legends alongside the late Shirley Walker.

...OK...

The tacked on beginning is atrocious. Yeah, they needed to pad the story but this Batgirl adventure sucks and has nothing to do with Joker at all. And it's sooo edgy having a Barbara have a sassy gay BFF at her workplace.

Oh, and even thought it's rated R, there's no nudity/nipples, obviously.....but there IS a *** scene between Batman and Batgirl. WTF??

The Batgirl crap is completely tone deaf and about as far from an Alan Moore script as it can get. The actual graphic novel begins begins at the 30 minute mark. This filler at the beginning is garbage.

a *** scene with batman and batgirl?? geez was that going on in the actual book? I don't recall

Absolutely NOT. Not even remotely hinted at ever. It's SO out of place.

Also, I know the colors on the graphic novel were "improved" and the oval around the bat was removed, but I still prefer the original. Would it have killed them to animate the yellow oval? It just looks so wrong without it. And Brian Bolland's retro Batmobile is not in this either...it's just a slightly tweaked version of the Animated Batmobile. I would have liked to see the Bolland version come to life. Oh well.

Oh la la, some Bat on Babs action? Nice...

Yeah everything sounds horrible. And not only you, everyone prefers the original coloring.

Everybody's always like "but Barbara's so young," but, for me, the most sordid part is that she's the daughter of, probably, the closest thing Bruce has to a best friend. It plays like something out of a ****o.:lol That being said, I've never been super against it. Like I said, it's shady as ****, but people are human, and, as people like to point out, whenever they want to say why Batman's their favorite superhero, "it's because he's human." I never understood that. People like to praise how relatable he is just because he's a man, but one of the biggest parts of being human is making mistakes.

I'm not sure how it's portrayed in the film, but, to me, it sounds intriguing, because it seems like Batman is kind of grappling with the same ideas that we are, which is what causes him to become a bit withdrawn from her.

isnt batgirl like a daughter to him? ..... so.. this IS like a ****o... (one of those stepdaughter kinds) :horror

I just finished watching the movie, it's pretty good aside from two major issues. One being the pacing that I felt wasn't that great, Joker's flashbacks feels choppy and a lot of scenes aren't allowed to linger. Second being that stupid *** scene between Batman and Batgirl- it felt unnecessary and totally out of place.

The animation itself is typical modern DC, so don't expect anything much. The best thing has to be the acting- Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill truly give their best and you can tell they're trying as hard as they can to make fans happy. Mark gets to go places you never hear in BTAS/Justice League/Arkham games and Kevin manages to sneak a line from the Nolan films just to show Bale how it's done.

Oh, there's also a homage to the Nicholson/Ledger Joker which I though was pretty cool.

IMO BvS was better with additional 30 minutes of footage, while

TKJ is better withouth its first 30 minutes

The one in the middle of the homage for Nicholson and Ledger is a homage for Romero :)

I can't believe I have to agree with this, but you're right. BvS was better with the additional footage while this just left a bad taste in my mouth. It just cheapens Batman and Batgirl and I would say it's even a bit nauseating. What were they thinking?

While I watched it, that scene felt out of place, I assumed they threw that part in the beginning to really drive home why Batman wanted to get involved later in the plot, like he had feelings for Barbara, but it didn't play out that way at all, not even referenced later on. But the flipside to that is that it's not referenced at all, so you can just skip it and enjoy the back half for what it is.

It's almost like they threw it in to ensure that it got an R rating, because it was really just one gun shot, and no notable curse words that I remember, so they had to throw a *** scene in to make it got an R. They probably figured it would be more marketable if it was R.

It's was pretty good. The batgirl thing was so odd tho. Like wtf man. She said it was like "fireworks" lol . Batman must of gave it to her good. Damn

Man, I gave it a 4/5 on the "Rate the last movie" thread. Upon reflection, I'm tempted to give it a 2/5.

Basically, they ruined Barbara by having her sexually pining over Bruce. It's about as stupid as you can imagine.
