Lol. I'll still give it a whirl. We had the chance to see this last night but my wife wanted Superman more. I hope to get back soon. I have been to the theater a lot lately due to the insanely hot weather.

I am kidding, Depp could be great. Unfortunately, i envision Tonto to be strangely similar to Jack Sparrow. I have little faith Depp will stray to far from a working formula

Blazing Saddles one of the wackiest westerns of all time was the top grossing western for many years

Just saw it. Not a good movie, but not as bad as I feared, either. And I agree with the consensus: it sucks that it took over 2 hours of the 2.5 hour movie for it to actually be The Lone Ranger. If the whole movie was like the last 20-30 minutes it would have been much better. God damn modern movies and their forced origin stories. Meh.

And I must admit, as blah as the first 2 hrs or so of the movie is... when we get to the beginning of the end sequence and the Ranger shows up atop the rearing Silver and the William Tell Overture kicks in I had a huge smile on my face and was 5 years old again. That was awesome. But too little, too late.

Saw it today.Watchable but kinda average. As average as man of Steel. So far I've been unimpressed by all this Summer Blockbusters. Next one im seeing is Pacific Rim.

Anyone else want to stand up and cheer at the end of the William Tell Overture sequence?

Yep, definitely. I was a little disappointed in the "Hi-yo, Silver! Awayyy!" Thing. It had the potential to finish the film off on an epic note, and they threw it away for a cheap gag that's been done before.

Am I one of only a few that enjoyed the humor in the movie?

The only aspect that struck me as a bit... off, was the horse gags [standing on the roof, in a tree - wtf?].
