Quaids dedication to his role of Doc (Weight loss) was noteworthy as he looked more like the historical figure but Kilmer had the dialog.

Give me The Searchers, The Wild Bunch and The Shootist any day before Tombstone.

Unforgiven is the Best Western of our era IMO.

You might be right. Open Range and Dances with Wolves are up there too as contenders for best western of last 25 years

What's sad is this movies lackluster box office will be blamed on the property and not the final product.

WYATT EARP is indeed a better film than TOMBSTONE. But I'd rather watch TOMBSTONE. Just like I'd rather watch RAMBO than APOCALYPSE NOW.

I've seen both and I'd put Tombstone ahead of Wyatt Earp in every category. Wyatt Earp is alright but nothing special. I'm a huge fan of Tombstone so there is some bias there.

Tombstone was more entertainment like the Jets vs The Sharks while Wyatt Earp was more of what really happened and more of a real Western . Both films are good though

A great Western does not have to have the action of a Tombstone or Quick and the Dead or the gangsta style of Django. All good entertainment done in the old west by the way . They just aren't typical westerns

Outlaw Josey Wales yes, The Professionals too(the Dirty Dozen of Westerns)

I don't think Wyatt Earp is as accurate as one might think. Doesn't matter to me though Tombstone is a great film Wyatt Earp is alright for me anyways.

Shane, The Gunfighter, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, The Magnificent Seven,Hombre, High Noon all top notch too IMHO

If I'm not watching Tombstone when it comes to Westerns I'm probably watching John Wayne. Those are pretty much my thing when it comes to Westerns.

Nobody said spot on accuracy but definetly more truthful than tombstone. WE is an epic film worthy of an older time. Tombstone is more of an action ganster city film with nice drama in between and is highly entertaining both good and fun
