I agree to a point, but simple recognition or understanding of a character doesnt warrent spending 100s of bucks on a statue. There are a number of people that seem pretty sure they will be buying Man-Thing, and I am sure some will! I have a feeling though, that when Man-Thing comes out the cancellation rate will be through the roof because collectors will be spending thier money on a more "desirable" charater.

Also, Man-thing was released 2 months before Swamp thing... he got gyped out of an 80s TV series IMO!

I agree with you for the most part. The cancelation % will depend on the ES. This really is a piece for those who truly want it (not many).

You know what Homer Simpson would say right?

But I lost my remote and my arms are too short to reach the TV!

But turning knobs and pressing buttons is HAARD.

If the company is going to go through all the trouble of advertising thier product the LEAST I can do is BUY it!

BWAHAHAHAHA!!

:rotfl:rotfl:rotfl:rotfl

So wait....the Man-Thing likes to upset the natural balance of a delicate ecosystem by preventing an instinctual predator from getting a meal, thus protecting the weaker species and ultimately dooming a large variety of life forms to extinction? Damn..Man-Thing is a badass!

Thats the funniest thing I've read today!! :lol

Who are those ''we'' people you speak of...:sick

Fact #1 You just said there were haters in this thread
Fact #2 They all felt they wanted something more exciting.....not Man-Thing

Fact #3 Me plus one other person that wanted a different sculpt ='s we

Thank you for doing my thinking for me... it was a great burden on me and now that stress is gone. Please let me know what WE will be buying next...

I will let you buy whatever you want to buy.......you must not be part of the "we" that wanted something else.

If you want anymore help let me know.....Im here for you.

I love Indiana Jones movies.......but I wouldnt buy a PF of this guy.

Again the sculpt will prolly be awsome and its great that Sideshow id doing obscure characters........but we already know they do obscure characters

Negative zone spidey
abomination
Namor
cloak

so at this point do people really want a Man-Thing? NO! We just want characters that get us excited about collecting and this just doesnt do it.

One thing I dont doubt is it will be extremely detailed and a fantastic sculpt. I will order one but dont know what I will do when the time comes and there are other releases that are catching my eye and money much more.

Apparently you aren't in touch with any other Marvel fans on this board... of which there are apparently only two or three at the most

If you were a real collector, you'd be excited about every obscure or unexpected character that Sideshow decides to produce and you would realize that it's wrong to be disappointed with anything that Sideshow does.

Again...

It's an odd choice, but it will sell out... they almost always do. I just find it to be a little strange that it's been this long after Thor since another BIG announcement of a new character has been made. Maybe they've been waiting for a server upgrade

I grew up collecting X-men cards/comics and had just about every Toybiz X-men figure made, so you can ^^^^ off if you have a problem with me wanting more X related pieces of top tier characters

you shore?

Wow, I heard of washboard abs, but I never knew that washboard ass existed until now.

I am expecting after Shai and Ill Jedi's compelling speech towards the haters to follow it with a hearty... "THIS IS SPARTA!" or in this case... "THIS IS SIDESHOW!!!"

Not every release is for every buyer. Not even every Marvel release is for every Marvel fan. As has been pointed out, just because they make Man-Thing (hardly an obscure character) doesn't mean they won't make YOUR favorite obscure character down the line.

People have to get out of this mindset that if they're a Marvel fan they have to love everything SSC puts out under the Marvel license. It's not going to happen.

Personally I'm not a huge fan of the character, but it is a very cool design and looks like an awesome execution. Perhaps the exclusive could be that part of his back is a chia-pet, so you actually have to water your Man-Thing to make it grow?

I don't think they're light up eyes though - that's probably just the reflection.

lol That would rock.. and add some realism to the piece. I am referring to the chia pet exclusive comment.

It'll be tough to beat Bowen Designs version but I'm sure the paint job will be more detailed and accurate. The size of this should impress...

BB

^Thats another thing. The Bowen piece is "perfect" and yet it goes for below retail. Anyway, this will be interesting. I hear Shuma Gorath is next.

I cannot wait to see the full picture of this. While its not a character I would have chosen to buy the level of detail on the sneak peak has me very interested.

Agreed totally!

Im trying to figure out this all or nothing concept....Im confused.

If your a sports fan.......do you have to like every type of sport? or every team in your favorite sport? or maybe its every player on your team you have to like or else you are not a true fan?

If you like cars do you have to like every car ever made or just every car a certain company makes? Can you like just sports cars and not luxury cars......but still love cars?

I love women, to be a true lover of women do I have to love every type of woman? even the fat ones?.......but I dont like really, really fat ones..........omg.......OMG..........I might be gay:rotfl

Well.....since comiquette lovers have to deal with an obscure 70's character as the next release.....I think PF collectors should be happy with the Human Fly PF that SS is sure to release next.:rotfl

I think we are unfortunately getting to the point of beating the dead horse. I have no problem with the occasional obscure, B/C character as long as Sideshow throws out a few major characters in; other than Namor (which was horrid imho), after Thor, we have gotten little in the line of core characters in a LONG time. I think it is hypocritical to lecture people about being disappointed and frustrated by the lack of popular characters in the PF/Comiquette format WHEN CORE CHARACTERS IN THOSE FORMATS ARE WHAT MADE SIDESHOW POPULAR in the first place!

Some people like the obscure and some claim to be fans of Man-Thing. Good for you, pick this up and be happy. This will probably look amazing, as most Sideshow products do. But I have said it before, do an advanced search under Marvel for Man-Thing and see how many hits you get. :monkey1

Pot calling the kettle black...
Because we know I lecture people for voicing their frustration with Sideshow or other members.
