Well, it's probably the same reason Boba wearing Mando armor isn't brought up anymore/a point of contention - he just stole/copied it. The signet was probably a Mandalorian thing, which Boba then copied for his shoulder armor (much like the entire suit itself).

All those decades of building a lot of the Mando mythology through him and he?s relegated to just being a Mando fraud to explain him now. Kinda crazy.

Yeah I can't say I'm a fan of what they've done with that character, and in my mind he's still just the mysterious Mandalorian bounty hunter we met in ESB. The prequel-era backstory doesn't make much sense anyway so is pretty easy for me to disregard.

I kinda liked the idea of the Mud Horn as his Signet. Cool beast that ! If the Mando won't take him then I will. Still think this would be a pretty epic 1/6 display.

Interestingly enough the reasoning was because "an enemy helped him so it wasn't a noble kill." I have a feeling that Baby Yoda will still play into his signet by the end of this season.

That Heavy Mando looks awesome. A real beast. How much would something like that set us back in 1:6 scale? $350+?

He was slightly taller than The Mandalorian so past that there isn't much to make him that much more. I have a feeling he'd be around $280-$300.

I wonder who the armorer is. She's got Fett's signet above her doorway. Wonder if/how that passes down or did she earn that by killing the same beast?

Duh... I forgot the Fetts weren't Mandalores. But since the signet was on Boba's shoulder armor and apparently also the Armorer's I am wondering how they?ll address the connection - poser, thief? It?s been boldly shown a couple times on the show. Kind of surprised this hasn?t been questioned yet.

That beast is the Mythosaur. The skull of the mythosaur became the symbol of the planet Mandalore, and of the Mandalorians themselves for generations after. It's a general symbol for all of the Mandalorians.

If you mean "passes down" as in it came from Fett, then no it doesn't. The Fett's have nothing to do with Mandalorians besides the fact that their armor is the same.

There has been rumors that Boba Fett might show up in the next season of The Mandalorian. I have a feeling we'll get some retcon even further of his background.

Ahh... thought it was an individual?s signet. Thanks for the insight.

As a hardcore Star Wars guy, I'd say that wasn't accurate. All it boils down to is that Episode 7 was the "safe" movie to get the fans back into the SW Universe and it pretty much worked. It was a generally satisfying movie that just set up enough questions that Episodes 8 and subsequently 9, should have been able to answer. Rogue One was just a really great movie with zero expectations so that movie was in the right place, at the right time. If anything, that movie just set up the bar for Episode 8.

What happened was due to the lack of someone having a plan, episode 8 decided to crap on everything story-wise that came before it just to subvert expectations." It's as simple as that. That's where this whole "toxic fandom" thing really got took to another level. How does Episode 7 set up questions that Episode 8 says doesn't matter anyway but then turn around and blame angry fans that it's their fault for coming up with theories. Most people don't care if they're theories are right or wrong but don't set things up if you're just gonna pull the rug up from under them just to be "bold".

Solo was just collateral damage since it came out so soon after Episode 8. Ask anybody unbiased and they'll say Solo was also a pretty satisfying movie. Unfortunately, Episode 8 was the biggest let down to fans, so Episode 7 and Solo are just dragged down with it.

Over-saturation is the laziest excuse and is just a buzzword. You can't tell me Star Wars fan suffer over-saturation from 4 movies in 3.5 years while Marvel knocked out like 22 in a decade and are still breaking records with each new one and the fans are generally very happy. The closest thing to how episode 8 alienated the fans was this last season of Game of Thrones. All people want is a coherent story that they can enjoy and a story ending with a good payoff for all the time wasted watching said story. SW/GOT fans watched seven movies/seasons worth of material and then Episode/Season 8 just made everything that led up to it moot so those are two cases where. I don't blame the fans for being angry for wasting all those hours watching and then being told just kidding, none of it really matters.

The Mandalorian is working because fans aren't feeling like Favreau/Filoni are just checking boxes to satisfy any demographics. There's already been way more character shown by The Mandalorian/Ugnolte/Baby Yoda in 2 episodes than any main character has shown in the the sequel trilogies so far. This show has competent writers/directors and is how it "should" be. I wouldn't worry about this show disappointing.
I personally didn't go into Solo with much of an expectation one way or the other. I did see it at the theaters, but thought it was mediocre. As a generic, middle of the road action movie it was fine, though not particularly memorable or satisfying. I could say the same for episode 8, though I agree that they clearly didn't have any plan, and that did make it awkward.

But big picture, for me personally, and for audiences in general based on box office, Marvel has found a way to keep things fresh enough, while Star Wars needs to try something different to maintain audience attention. In terms of Marvel vs. Star Wars, that's where they differ. It doesn't matter how many films you get if the creators can keep it fresh. On the other hand, even one is too many if you beat a dead horse too much.

I called the ice cream machine, by the way :lol

In terms of this figure, I can't help but think that sales will suffer due to the show constantly upgrading his look and arsenal. We're only three episodes in and this figure is hardly recognizable as the character now. I can't decide whether Howard is cursing Disney for that, or thanking them since he can now release 4-5 different variants for $250 each down the road. Hong Kong exclusive, promo exclusive, 2.0, DX version, 3.0 etc.

Does anyone know why George decided he wasn’t a real mando? I know Filoni brought it in after George told him but .....
It just doesn’t seem to take the story anywhere. Not in the movies.
I like boba as a mando. And he will be in my head.

Probably because he doesn't act like one.

In the films? What does it actually show of how. A mando acts?

My bad, should've elaborated. I just meant how he's a lone maverick, when Mando's are more tribal. But anyways, looks like the real answer is more fuzzy: I'll copy and paste one of the interesting answers I found online. Long story short, they were never really meant to be Mandalorians in the first place.

"If Dave Feloni is to be believed, Lucas never intended for the Fetts to be Mandalorians. The idea for the Mandalorians came about during preproduction for Empire, and mentioned in the novelization. The Mandalorians and Boba Fetts relationship to them would be expanded upon in Expanded Universe, however when Lucas began production for Attack of the Clones, and when Feloni was working on The Clone Wars, much of the EU was relegated to Legends, while keeping the broad strokes, and changing the connection the Fetts had to the Mandalorians."

Really doubt it's that big a deal to them. For one, it's still as recognizable as ever, and two, Hot Toys spreads their releases so much on purpose to prevent paint variation figures' sales from eating each other. It's not like they've been annoyed about any other character having multiple appearances. I don't see why this is different. And I say this as someone who would grab the beskar version over it lol.

See that’s my confusion. That explains what happened not why? I can only assume something like the mandalorians were meant to be extinct like the Jedi and fett was someone who acquired their gear? Maybe explaining the different colours? A bit like jodo kast?
Like I said earlier it donesmt seem to change the stories and given than Filoni had brought in many mandos since I don’t see why fett has to be exiled.
I guess we may never know and it’s just another Star Wars mystery.
Btw. The mandalorian rocks. Loving it.
I wonder if he will paint the beskar later?

First outfit is my preferred appearance of the character so I'm definitely going to pre-order that one. However, I won't rule out other variants, especially if they come with must have accessories.

The correct answer is buy them all.

Nice to see a fellow Yorkie on here btw

I can't remember exactly, but back in 1980 I understood that Fett wore the old armor of a warrior race called Mandalorians to instill fear in others but that he himself was not an actual Mandalorian. He adopted the outfit as a fear tactic. He remained even more of a mystery. The Mandalorians themselves at that time (1980) figured prominently in the so-called Clone Wars -- which back then seemed like a very long time ago (not just 20 years). But somewhere along the line, Fett became a Mandalorian. I think this occurred from 2nd and 3rd hand story developers for novels and games.

So is the "Never removing your helmet" thing something new Filoni came up with? Because he had Sabine and all the other Mandalorians removing their helmets all the time on Rebels, and it didn't seem like a big deal to them at all. Lol

... on Rebels
