Where'd you find that photo of me?

I actually watched Rebels for a lot of their McQuarrie-esque art direction. The show itself was too kids-y most of the time, although I liked watching their stylized Vader be super spooky, and they cartoon stormtroopers had their moments. Just moments, but still. Love those goons.

I don't think I watched all of CW, and as I've said elsewhere, I feel Filoni made some very dubious calls in terms of where he took the canonical universe, but it is what it is. One thing I feel they did right was occasionally veer into rather shocking violence for a cartoon, which gave it a wartime feel, and illustrating Anakin's slow slide into doing what was expedient vs. what was right.

I wholeheartedly reject the hokey Force stuff they expanded and built upon. Huge misstep IMO but YMMV.

So is the "Never removing your helmet" thing something new Filoni came up with? Because he had Sabine and all the other Mandalorians removing their helmets all the time on Rebels, and it didn't seem like a big deal to them at all. Lol

Yeah I don?t love that part

That part of Star Wars has always been problematic for me.

Stormtrooper "discipline" now involves not removing your helmet without permission? At least that was explicitly stated in TFA.

I understand them keeping them on for effect in the OT, but the idea that they *can't* remove them is weird. Likewise for the Mandalorian. What does that do to one's complexion?

Itchy nose? Suffer.

Hungry? Not in public, buddy.

Thirsty? Ask for that blue milk with a bend-y straw.

I really enjoyed the multi part Umbara attack with General Krell on Clone Wars. Something like that would make a great stand alone movie, just a straight up war movie. Lot of really good stuff in the animated series with some very kid focused stuff that i just skipped over.

I remember that episode, it worked.

Rebels was a pretty good series for the most part
There’s some dodgy stuff in there too.
Bit like clone wars - which was strongest when it didn’t feature anakin and obi too much

I always assumed Mandalorians were similar to Native American tribes. There were blood natives, but if you were an outsider and wanted to live the way of the tribe for the tribe you could be accepted into the fold as long as you took the oath and upheld tribal customs and standards. I assumed the Fetts were non-blood Mandos, and were kind of ostracized when Jango sold his DNA. I felt that way due to the Karen Traviss EU stuff, but that mythology was ret-conned on the Clone Wars cartoon, which was a bad idea, in my opinion. That ret-con was what made me lose interest in Star Wars, pretty much. Kinda devalued a lot of really well written characters.

Thought the same think... sort of a shame since removing the helmet would give a broader range of emotional possibilities.
And in canon it doesn?t seem to be a think. As you say in Rebels, but also Clone Wars.

Does it really though?

The Mando has shown way more emotion than any of the characters in Episode 7 and 8 combined in just these few episodes alone:dunno

Oh god... is there no chance of talking about this subject without having to hear how much you hate the ST? ...and yes, I think in the long run it would make more room for development if he could take his helmet off - since there?s no canon reason for him not to (till now). For now it?s fine, even great, that he keeps his helmet on, but when we get to season three... maybe not so much anymore. But maybe I?ll change my mind.

So far, I don’t have a problem with him not removing the helmet. If you can get a sense of what he’s thinking and feeling with an emotionless helmet on, that’s good “acting” (body language), directing and editing. All these super hero films where the actor has to remove their mask to emote tells me they aren’t very good actors. Keep the helmet on forever for all I care, as long as they can keep the same level they have so far.

Calm down. How is it hate when it's my observation? Is what I'm saying wrong?

You sensitive nancies get too defensive so quick. Go to your safe-zones and cry it out if words on a forum can get you worked up so much. So many crybabies on here, I swear.

Haha! Read your own reply here and read mine... and then think about it.

For what it's worth, Wookipedia states that Jango is from Concord Dawn, which is a moon of Mandalore. In CW, all the outcasts and old school fanatics of Mandalore lived on Concord Dawn. So that technically makes Jango and Boba, Mandalorian.

Ok that's a weird argument. You may not like the movies or characters but they still show a crazy amount of emotion in them.

I will agree though that Pascal has done a terrific job of conveying emotion through his body language and voice, and I don't see any reason for him to remove his helmet now.

There should be no doubt that I totally agree with both of these statements. But we are three episodes in and I?m mostly just wondering why they made it so that Mandalorians do not remove their helmets when they clearly do in other canon material. I just like Pascals face a lot too and wouldn?t mind seeing it at some point in the series. :)

agreed The worse thing with the reboot was lost of some great characters and stories to be replaced with some pretty average stuff. - and I mean the comics books etc as well as the films.
Not that the old eu was perfect.

Back to the mando. I can?t think of anything in the clone wars that explains the great purge. So I guess it relates to whatever happened either before rebels or is it after rebels??
