Re: Star Wars live action series-Jon Favreau's THE MANDALORIAN

Ever notice how Anakin was this genius child who could build robots and pod race better than anyone?

Then he grew up and didn't build anything, just whined a lot. Like, you'd think Anakin would have this excellent souped-up speeder. Or an apartment that looked like a garage where he was constantly tinkering. Or something that harkened back to that little boy. But no....

Yeah, they drastically mismanaged his character. Really like wtf..

Everyone had those thoughts about Anakin that you mentioned in their heads goin into the prequels and what we got was pretty terrible story telling.

Why are we all on the same awesome wavelength and these so called creators of this stuff seem almost to purposely screw it up.

Cause if if we can all think of it, why can’t they? It’s not even laziness. I couldn’t even call it that.

It’s like they don’t even know their own mythology or stories anymore. Or, didn’t know what it was to begin with and just got lucky.

Ever notice how revisionist have now turned the PT into works of art lol

Re: Star Wars live action series-Jon Favreau's THE MANDALORIAN

OK here goes no matter how many times I have re-watched the PT in a desperate attempt to bury my feelings and find something redeemable about them I simply have to turn them off I can never finish them a problem I don’t have with TFA/TLJ.

Even TFA has improved for me.

The PT are just brutal to sit thru every scene brutal I just can’t.

Watch the Yippee scene in TPM then watch that Mando clip the 2 farthest ends of the spectrum.

Btw Mandalorian vibe is bad ass without resorting to killing younglings.

Two issues at work here from what I can see. Successfully executing ideas is much harder than coming up with them. I'm amazed good movies ever get made at all given all the moving parts.

But in this case it's like the ideas were never even there or discarded. For PT failures it was likely because there was nothing and no one to put the brakes on any of it. No one to say 'no'.

For ST failures it's all design-by-corporate-committee dictated by spreadsheets.

And by failures for the PT and ST I mean overwrought storytelling, inconsistent storytelling, poor or derivative conceptualization, respectively.

[...] But eh right now I'm just going to kick back and see if they somehow hit a grand slam with bases loaded in the bottom of the 9th. ;)

You're a brave man, Khev. :lol

:lol

I don't think I'm being brave I've just experienced all sides of the pre-hype machine, being excited out of my mind for TPM and then "wtf" when I saw it, being cynical about RO and Solo and then loving them and everything in between and at this point I realize that it's just more fun to be excited in the months leading up to a SW release no matter how it turns out. :)

I'll give you that. What's the phrase? "No one hates Star Wars more than Star Wars fans" ...? :rotfl ...this may be the film I love to hate. ;)

Re: Star Wars live action series-Jon Favreau's THE MANDALORIAN

Late to the party and just watched the trailer. Awesome stuff. I very much like this direction of Star Wars...

Re: Star Wars live action series-Jon Favreau's THE MANDALORIAN

You should be ashamed of yourself. Do you have to get everyone in your neighborhood to sign off for you?

Anakin made him to "help mom".

Rotfl...

Re: Star Wars live action series-Jon Favreau's THE MANDALORIAN

Oh it probably won't fix ROTJ for you but for me I've been bothered about the way ROTJ wrapped everything up after learning that Palps was supposed to survive and not be fully defeated until Episode IX by Luke and the "other" (not Leia.) That is until Lucas decided he didn't want to make anymore SW films in the 80's and just had the story end with Episode VI.

But now it's looking like TROS will give us that extended journey to eradicate Palpatine and if they also say on screen that Yoda was looking into the future and calling out Rey as the "other" then that will just be freaking icing on the cake for me.

If that were the case then Obi-wan didn't get that memo: 'The other he spoke of is your twin sister'.

Re: Star Wars live action series-Jon Favreau's THE MANDALORIAN

OBW was a lying POS lol

Only if the PT are in your canon. :D If they're not, he (understandably) lied about one big thing and simply didn't divulge other information like Luke having a sister because he didn't have to.

Nah Jye is right, Yoda was a lying POS also.

Nothing worse than someone who lies “for your own good”

"Your twin sister in the Force, not by blood. So once again what I said was true Luke, from a certain point of view."

:D

In all seriousness though I'd much rather TROS sync up with ESB than ROTJ since ESB and ROTJ don't even sync up with each other.

Remember our discussion a while back how the "other" in ESB couldn't have been Leia because if Luke failed in rescuing her (and thus no longer became their last hope) then she'd be dead too. So ROTJ made Yoda out to be an absolute idiot and if TROS says that Rey is actually the other then Obi-Wan alone remains the sole idiot, lol.

Well unfortunately for me JJ made the PT canon so I have no choice in the matter if I want to enjoy IX lol

Re: Star Wars live action series-Jon Favreau's THE MANDALORIAN

Why are people saying that Yoda's "there is another" reference is Rey?

In ROTJ, does Yoda not say "there is another..." Skywalker... just before Ben essentially says 'the other Yoda was talking about is your twin sister.'

I think its pretty clear who Yoda was talking about in the early 80's. :lol

Besides, if you start thinking this way then certainly, over the next 100 years, there will be many "anothers" in the Star Wars universe. Broom Boy is still young.

Re: Star Wars live action series-Jon Favreau's THE MANDALORIAN

Of course the "other" according to ROTJ was Leia. That's not in question. But that was a retcon since that didn't sync with ESB. So now I hope they retcon the retcon. :)
