Re: Star Wars live action series-Jon Favreau's THE MANDALORIAN

Probably wait until next Celebration as they don’t want another new show to step on IX and Mandalorian limelight which I agree with.

Let those two breath and coexist for now as both complimented each other very well.

I have to say that the bad will from TLJ and Solo bombing had no impact on Celebration and if anything Disney pulled off quite an impressive show of forward moving confidence.

I won’t call it a full recovery just yet though for that to happen both IX and Mando have to be great.

other than setting it between ANH and ESb or just having the "he survived the Sarlacc" thing .....
.

Well if he DOES survive the Sarlacc , I at least can look forward to another series, perhaps a new talk show that discusses what happened on the weekly episode of The Mandalorian , (like Talking Dead.)

We could call it WeeQuay Weekly.

Aaaaand here’s your host! WALTER WEEEEEEEQUAAAAAAAAAY

LFL seems to be set to ride a wave of at least some goodwill this holiday season. I have a hard time imagining both Mando and TROS disappointing most fans. So even if someone doesn't like one there will be the other as a fallback and if Mando and TROS are somehow both homeruns then holy hell what a time that will be.

Dude I hate the cold and i’m super stoked for spring but winter 2019 can’t come fast enough now lol

Hopefully by fall 2019 i’ll be living in LA I rather die in an earthquake while stuck in traffic than shovel snow again in 10 degree weather lol

How dafuq you tolerate Minn is beyond me!

I hired a company to do that years ago. Best money I've ever spent. :lecture

(I'm not wealthy. I just hate shoveling snow)

There's a lot of optimism going forwards atm, with the The Mandalorian and Cassian tv series, Episode IX (hopefully redeeming the ST) and the Benioff and Weiss films (probably KOTOR related). Also, rumours of an Obi-Wan series starring Ewan. If these all end up being even 80% as good as they sound then Disney will have won back many of the fan base. The one that sticks out like a sore thumb is the Rian Johnson trilogy. I don't mean to start yet another TLJ debate, but how the hell can that guy have been given free licence on another SW project? It's a massive risk for Disney to back him when they have so many other cool projects going on. I hope to God they freeze the guy out.

Re: Star Wars live action series-Jon Favreau's THE MANDALORIAN

There has been a certain amount of lasting damage to my Star Wars fandom inflicted by the PT, the ST and I would even say Hasbro when they gave up on quality 3.75'' for a few years there :lol - the manifestation of this is that while I take good films as they come - like RO or Solo - it doesn't make me excited for more new Star Wars by default as it still seems to do for Khev and Jye.

I watched the IX trailer and I'm like ''K...'', I hear about these new shows and I'm like ''well, alright, I'll give them a look''.

It may sound like I'm trying to be too cool for school here, which would be silly, why even post then....but I don't feel that old-Lando-style jubilation and the hope and optimism that you guys are rocking.

Well, I'm off to the All things Terminator thread to soak up the excitement for T6 :lol

Dude I don't mind winter but **** the snow shoveling sucked this year, lol. We had snow much snow last month with a heat wave on the way threatening to melt it all in record time that I dug a five foot "moat" around my entire house for fear of my finished basement flooding! That's right I didn't just shovel my driveway but also my effing YARD. Do you know how lame that is, lol.

But it was worth it because some of my coworkers did experience basement flooding.

Yes I hope to God that they are simply waiting for the assumed success of Mando and TROS to win back the fan base before then officially declaring that RJ's trilogy has been cancelled. I can see them not wanting to announce that he's out right now for fear of it sounding like them admitting defeat after the divisiveness of TLJ and BO failure of Solo. So maybe they're waiting to announce his firing when they in a place of success/fan goodwill.

I don't think being meh about upcoming SW makes you too cool for school. I'm sure guys like me and jye are in the minority at this point. And I say me and jye as people who are super excited about Mando and TROS and *not* "all new SW." I was ambivalent until that gorgeous trailer and Palpatine reveal, *especially* the latter. That brought me back in a major way.

Mando just looks like more RO-style goodness but with Boba Fett or Fett clone (no pun intended.) So I'm 100% on board with those right now. But the CW trailer did nothing for me and I know that that show is huge for a lot of fans. I also didn't care much for the Fallen Order videogame footage. I don't know what to think of the supposed KOR trilogy, so we'll see. Some SW I'm meh about like you and other stuff that targets my specific preferences I'm over the moon about, especially if the quality is there.

No Fett, no clone, no pun. It's Pedro. They're paying good money for Pedro Pascal, they're not going to hide his face behind Morrison CGI.

Re: Star Wars live action series-Jon Favreau's THE MANDALORIAN

No I meant Fett clone in the more traditional copycat sense not the literal Kamino clone factory kind.

Watching the Mando panel again where Favreau does say point blank that he's a brand new character and then hearing Pascal's voice which does not sound like Fett (original or Morrison) I'm inclined to take Favreau at his word and believe that he isn't actually a post-Sarlacc Boba Fett. I'm not gonna lie that's a pretty big bummer to me if true but maybe Favreau was just as bummed that he wasn't allowed to use the character so he did everything he could to make him as close as possible.

If I can embrace a non-Ford Han Solo I can embrace a non-Boba Mandalorian. So I've adjusted my expectations on who he is and plan to just enjoy watching the new stories with this character unfold as they are told because regardless of who he is this series just looks like a straight up winner.

:lol :lol

Those first shots of Daisy on that epic Jordan landscape are some of the most flat out beautiful SW shots ever.

Well said!

The formula is actually quite simple for me going forward with new SW.

If it’s set in the OT era or like the ST has OT characters then i’m enthusiastically onboard!

If it’s not, no thanks.

There you go, lol. Maybe that's a reason that the CW show just doesn't click with me. Ian McDiarmid is so awesome in TPM "Begin landing your troops, wipe them out all of them" it's like I'm watching/hearing ROTJ Emperor again. But the over-stylized CW animation and voice actors that don't sound like their live-action counterparts just don't ever make me believe I'm watching something connected to the films. So even with all of TPM's goofy stuff I'll take it over "epic" CW clone vs. droid battles.

Plus I just don't think that CG cartoons really "fit" with SW anyway. I prefer hand drawn or CGI that looks hand drawn like the original CW microseries.

Pedro killed a clone and stole the armor maybe?

Or found what was left of Boba Fett that the Sarlacc belched up and repainted the armor and started a new life.

So he's Jodo Kast?:lol

That would be awesome if he ever became canon.

Well Mandalorians weren't clones and IIRC the Kamino clones mostly died out before the OT due to their shortened lifespans so I'm sure that Pedro will just be a regular guy. Probably a real Mandalorian (hence the title) that took up bounty hunting like Boba Fett in ESB before AOTC screwed him up.

If he isn't Boba Fett then if I had to guess I'd assume that Favreau was pissed that Fett's backstory of being a badass Mandalorian Supercommando who turned to bounty hunting was stripped in favor of being a loser little girl raised by Jango so he gave Fett's original backstory to this new guy as a way of redeeming the concept.

Re: Star Wars live action series-Jon Favreau's THE MANDALORIAN

Imagine if Favreau/Filoni revealed this was Pre Vizsla's kid and they introduced the dark-saber in live action? I know people scoff at the "I hate how everyone is connected" stuff but it's not the most wreckless theory out there, especially considering the connection they have to PV.
