I refuse to watch TCW and Rebels. **** Filoni, **** his ****** waifu and **** his Chips. The Clone Wars Multimedia Project is my Canon.
Whatever TCW/Rebels character is introduced in The Mandalorian, I just pretend is a new character. Plus, I have enough cultural osmosis to know of the basic arcs already. I don't know, maybe I'll go and watch the Mandalorian/Bo-Katan episodes only. There's like only 10 of them according to the Wookieepedia. That said, I'm excited to see if Thrawn shows up. Or Mace Windu, according to some rumors, though I doubt them.

1) Always happy to see new worlds/design so thought that was great.
2) A certain reveal IMO is gawd-awful.
3) Wow which show was I watching. Guess some fans of a character will be thrilled. IMO thought portrayal lacked charisma.
4) Some of this made no sense or doesn't work or seemed bs/uneven.
Can't wait for next episode which hopefully gets back to basics.
Weakest ep of season 1 was by far sanctuary. I know they were going for Seven Samurai-ish, but it came off more star gate than anything. Bryce Dallas Howard's episode this season was much better.
This ep might have been the best of the show so far. At least its in my top 3. Alongside "the heiress" and season 1s "the prisoner".

Agree completely, probably my favorite episode of the show so far. It had some great performances, some really unexpected but appreciated story progression and blindingly amazing action and beautiful imagery.
You could say Biehn was wasted but I thought he did a lot with his role.
Yeah not gunna lie I didn't even recognize him until we got some close ups towards the end of the episode. he was definitely not an epic character by any means, but loved the western vibes of their confrontation. Was a cool juxtaposition up against all the samurai vibes going on at the same time.

It's a Saturday Morning Cartoon. Star Wars isn't exactly high literature, but there's much better stuff out there. The Darth Bane books, KotOR I & II, Republic Commando, the Kyle games, those spring to mind when I think "best SW content". GenndyWars and Dark Horse's Republic did TCW better than the cartoon anyhow.
It's a Cartoon, its darker moments can't even touch on the themes of the movies. What, you've got The Son showing Anakin some streamlined vision and the Jedi doing a soft mindrape on Cad Bane?
For one thing, I prefer my Clones are ruthless war machines bred for conflict. I don't want them to be "humanized" and "made likeable".
Too much time invested for little reward that I can't find elsewhere. My opinion anyhow. I'm not trying to convince anyone, different tastes and all.
I've got plenty reason. I don't like the art style, worthless filler and the show's very existence. It's a principle. It ruined everything with the chips.
Either way, I don't want to derail the thread. It's just that with all the FiloniWars stuff pouring into the show, I just had to say it. That was always to be expected, sure, but I was hoping otherwise. Anyhow.
I wonder if they'll bring back Mikkelsen for Thrawn.

Your loss, I think you are doing a disservice to yourself but whatever. You just come across as extremely closed minded, and for some reason, mad about the fact that it exists. You seem to think you know everything about the show without apparently even bothering to watch it .

I'm assuming the gawd-awful reveal to which you refer is The Child's actual name (Yeah, I think I'll be staying with Baby Yoda lol). It can't be AT's introduction - IMO the atmosphere and action in that opening scene was incredible. And I disagree about RD's portrayal lacking charisma - I thought she nailed it. After watching TCW and what I've seen of her in Rebels (just finished Season 2 and her battle with DV), that was exactly the mature, self-assured demeanor I expected from her character at this point in her life. And while Mando took a bit of a back seat in this episode, given it's essentially a one-and-done for AT for the time being I don't know how else they could have possibly done justice to a character of her stature without that being the case. Now (similar to our intros to Cobb Vanth and Bo-Katan), Mando & BY continue on with their quest and we're left to speculate if/when their paths may cross again.
I did find her "quiet time" with BY a bit uneven and the samurai aspect of her confrontation with the magistrate was initially somewhat jarring style-wise (sort of the same feeling I had when Kill Bill's Beatrix Kiddo walked into that snowy garden to face O-Ren Ishii). But that feeling passed quite quickly for me, as the duel was nicely choreographed.
Enjoyable episode. Rosario did better than I thought she would. Great atmosphere and planet vibe.
Filoni did just fine.
But..
That proper name for BY was awful. Hopefully a big name will be cast as GAT. Madds would perfect if he hadn’t already been used.
Luke showing up at some point to take custody of BY would be ideal. Wanted Mando to say “I’m your Huckleberry...” to Bein.
You know who I’d like to show up and be used in the SW universe? Lance Heinrikson. Love that guys voice.
Dont think Windu should ever be brought back.

Lars Mikkelsen did the voice work for him in Rebels. I think darthkostis already speculated about bringing him back to portray GAT live. I haven't seen the character in Rebels yet so I can't speak to whether or not he'd be a fit age-wise but it seems a good bet.

I thought The Brat's name was just fine; has a very vaguely Japanese feel which is fitting for the show. Lance would make a good GAT, now I think of it. In Rebels he was portrayed as this creepy, sibilant aristocrat that didn't sit very well with me.
Rosario did well for the most part; she had her job cut out for her given the character has a ton of backstory and expectations built up. She had some nice subtle reactions to Din's remarks about a few things. This is a war vet that survived a duel with Vader.
I really enjoyed the full-on Samurai-meets-Spaghetti-Western vibe they leaned into with this show, and loved the visuals.
Wasn?t suggesting Lance for GAT, too old.
But he plays authority figures very well, perhaps an alliance adm. who is the opposite number to GAT or the closest equivalent who wants to recruit Mando as an Alliance contractor. He could make a good Imperial but that side is getting pretty full.
Did not realize Madds had bro who did the voice of Thrawn. I misunderstood and thought folk wanted Madds as GAT.
Lars certainly has the look for him. Given how Asoka was used they could?ve used the voice actor for the physical roll imo.
