Yeah - I mean look - I was tremendously excited to see the Slave One and it certainly was cool to be seeing Boba Fett - OT elitist here and I don't mind the fact that it's Temuera Morrison and that he referenced Jango Fett - but my jury is out on whether this is the correct characterization for him and whether it's consistent with what he was in the OT. I read Khev and Ajp's posts on the matter and they kinda confirmed that nagging feeling I had after the episode. Hopefully they'll do some flashback stuff with him at some point down the line that might clear up a few things.

What else? As Xipotec mentioned, the massacring of Stormtroopers is getting old and is really making them look useless. I know I know, the ewoks already did that...but still. I'm actually feeling sorry for them now. No matter what their number I assume they are always the underdog.

Another thing I thought was weird was the part where Boba makes the comment - as if in surprise - 'The Empire is back'. And Ming-na Wen's character is likewise surprised. I assume this is me being stupid but what'd I miss? They were just fighting Imperial Stormtroopers.

Anyway, those reservations aside I enjoyed the continued reinforcement of the bond between Mando and Grogu. Good stuff.

He wasn't anything in the OT though, all he did was stand around menacingly then get his ass kicked, he was barely even a character :lol.

And I thought the same when he "realised" that the Empire was back, but I guess actually seeing a massive cruiser is different from a bunch of Stormtroopers.

Hold on hold on hold on.

Am I supposed to believe that the same ruthless and cunning Fett that freaking Vader kept company with in ESB is the same dumbass Fett that AFTER having just killed dozens of stormtroopers in Mando then ACTS SURPRISED that the empire is back when he sees the cruiser.

NO **** SHERLOCK you just interacted with stormtroopers for crying out loud. :slap

HNNNNNNNGGGGGGG

I think he ate his way out of the sarlaac pit.

Yeah I was sat there wondering what obvious piece of context for that comment I had missed or wasn't thinking of. Was the surprise just that the Empire was in that particular region of space or something? But even then, why wouldn't you express that surprise earlier when a dropship of stormtroopers comes down and attacks. Are stormtroopers not sufficient evidence of the Empire's presence?

I don't know if you noticed the wall of text on the way in, but there are several pages of Khev and ajp asserting otherwise.

I mean so did I (my screen name should be WallOfText) but I was just arguing in the opposite direction that I didn't see evidence for a remorseless badass killing machine, just a smart and kinda weasel-y hunter. :lol

Apparently I'm more or less alone in the wilderness on that one. :p

I also thought it was an awkward line, but figured it was the big heavily armed cruiser that threw him. Still weird. Maybe he has Sarlacc Brain.

Boba FAT!

Holy crap did TM look like ass that was embarrassing.

I guess they were going for Fat armored Thor when he took on Thanos.

He looked ok in a few scenes but others his belly was huge lol

Ha!

Thanks for pointing out the incredibly obvious thing that didn't occur to me.

Guy fights a bunch of stormtroopers, is later surprised that the Empire has returned. :D

This has become my biggest pet peeve. It wasn't enough to leave the joke on a meta level; in this last episode they actually had one trooper refer to the other as an idiot just to drive the point home. Not to mention the fact that they basically yelled "Retreat!" and ran back to their dropships. So, Remnant Stormtroopers are officially on par with Cobra troopers from the G.I. Joe RAH cartoons. :slap

What annoyed me the most, though, was *unarmored* Boba cracking troopers with a gaffi stick and other troopers then rushed him *with blasters in hand* to engage in close-quarters combat instead of shooting him. Where is Gideon recruiting these guys from? It's like they're trained to get themselves killed in the stupidest ways. :lol

ESB Fett was smart enough to anticipate that Han was going to float away with the garbage, but he thought Imperial dropships leaving two squads of armed stormtroopers were just a cosplay gang. :lol

Why do you think I've mentioned how much I'm dreading the potential writing of Thrawn? Whether you like him in the EU or not, I'm halfway expecting that the smartest guy in the SW universe is going to have wtf moments that'll make him look like Sheriff Rosco from the Dukes of Hazzard. :slap

It'll get better, jye. I read that Rodriguez described his situation as a "last-minute substitution" to direct this episode because whoever was lined up to do it had to back out. That could explain some of the lapses. Maybe the whole thing was rushed.

If you need an explanation for Fett being off at the moment, all I got is that maybe Sarlacc juices work like smoking really potent weed: kills brain cells, makes you lazy, and gives you the munchies. That explains how smart Boba Fett goes in, and dumb Boba Fat comes out.

But I do like what xipotec suggested about Fett turning on Mando (wouldn't mind him turning on Fennec too). If he's just playing them, then cool. If not, then Sarlacc juices done messed him up.

Just roll with the punches my friend. OT is only true SW canon.. Try and have fun with everything else :)

Edit:
Ah.. I see in the Blu Ray thread that you are.

Ah.. I see in the Blu Ray thread that you are.

My prediction.

MG cuts Fett head off with the DS.

Mando inherits S1.

I can’t picture TM on here long in armor.

When he said that the empire was back it was in a sense of a military power, we knew in season 1 that the empire was just bankrupt warlords with a few bad conditions troopers.
Remenber that Bobba was in Tatooine, the main cast was also surprised in the end of season 1 with the military power that Gideon had.
We as audience knows that they have a light cruiser(similar to a Star Destroyer) but the characters dont have this information, Mando didnt even know that Gideon was alive in the beginning of season 2.
For them, the leftover of the empire was just a small facction with short military power, not something as powerfull as it was show to them in this episode mainly to Bobba.

:lol :lol

Me and ajp had similar first reactions to this episode, lol.

I watched it a few more times though and actually found myself liking thicc Boba pretty quickly.

I assumed that Fett's shock at the "Empire" being back per se as opposed to some straggler Stormtroopers serving a random warlord was the site of the cruiser. He was out of the loop and getting up to speed on what Mando already knew. Mando saw the same cruiser with his super helmet vision a few scenes earlier and it didn't phase him at all.

After his adventures with Greef, Cara and Mythrol on Nevarro at that supposedly defunct Imperial base I would hope that Mando wasn't surprised lol...

I just finished watching it again.

Damn a lot changed for Fett in just 5 short years lol

Look i’m just being difficult because lets be honest ROTJ Fett is way worse than Mando Fett.

So technically an improvement since last we seen Fett in armor.
