I really hope S3 is still about Mando..minus Grogu obviously.

Not saying Boba?s story isn?t appealing, but I feel Book of Fett needs to be it?s own show..this series still needs Din in it , whether it?s Pedro under the mask or not

Please Favreau don?t let this be the end of Din

Yeah, S3 really needs to focus on Din. With Grogu gone I imagine they'll introduce something else that's a fan favourite to sell toys.

Oh come on, a-dev! This is a sign. You're being given your own "A(-dev) Christmas Carol."

That cheering little boy is your Ghost of Star Wars Past. He's trying to snap you out of your Scrooge-like cynicism.

Will you finally open yourself up to TLJ magic? Or will you spit on this obvious bit of magical intervention and continue to curse "Bah humbug!" instead?

Crap, I already know the answer. :lol

:lol :lol :lol

Your insight serves you well.

It isss...too late for me, ajp.

On the positive side what struck me was the John Williams magic - even his less memorable scores convey this wonderful atmosphere. After the very different musical style of The Mandalorian it was nice to hear Williams again. It was also nice to see Luke and Yoda interacting again. Everything else unfortunately and the general context of everything had me variously rolling my eyes, shaking my head or nodding off and I did ultimately fall asleep during the Crait sequence, sadly not before once again witnessing Rose's ''rescue'' of Finn and her delivery of arguably one of the most cringe lines in Star Wars history.

Robert Rodriguez is my new hero. That guy might love Boba Fett more than I do and Mando Gallery paints him as single handedly redeeming the character. None of Fett's rampage was in the script, he staged it all at his home with his kids standing in as Fett and the troopers and then pitched his homemade animatics to F&F.

He would have never allowed Fett to get embarrassed by what's her name. I'm so freaking glad he'll be involved with TBOBF! :rock

I don't think it's the end of Din, but when CGI Luke showed up - by that time I was like "oh, it's THAT kind of show..."

E.g. having killed time this summer watching Clone Wars and Rebels, where a parade of all and any SW characters march through (especially Ahsoka...)

So - what various writers, some YTubers, some Reddit posts were wary of, happened - the show went from something more or less self contained to part of the Star Wars mega-sundae, with the special sauce being CGI Luke. Who gets to hold Baby Yoda on his way out the door - e.g. most popular old hero character with most popular new character:google. I bet the next Funko release is Luke and child.

I didn't BELIEVE it would happen:( - figured Favreau at least would know to do fan service with a restrained hand - but here we are. In the latest Gallery, Filoni sez re Ahsoka "you don't want to introduce a character with no reason for them to be there".

True, but there was no reason at all for AHSOKA to be there. IMO a hugely missed opportunity to introduce a new remnant Jedi:(, and for Din to do something besides shoot Michael Biehn during the episode. Except Filoni and/or Disney wanted to introduce the Ahsoka show - and Filoni just luvs his Ahsoka.

IMO Luke showing up - which should have been a huge moment towards the end of the series - happened way too fast. Possibly to fast forward Grogu into a form of young Yoda, who shows up at some point to save the day - since he's trained now and all. Bonus since the CGI Luke was more or less accepted, he can now make regular appearances. Along with, I suspect, every other dead character in the SW universe:banghead (Always liked Qui-Gon so maybe they are going to rope Liam Neeson in - he's already known for making appearances from the netherworld). IMO too much reshash just feels - cheap. Like no-one can sit down and do the VERY hard work of being original.

It's not that IMO Boba's re-appearance wasn't well done, or it wasn't fun watching a Jedi cut through a pack of Dark Troopers. It's just this slow build/journey show set in the bleak back of beyond was a lot more interesting to me, than Clone Wars Season 8 or Rebels Season 5 - because I've already seen those, more than once. Even Solo managed to keep some sense of being its own thing, and introduced characters like Qui'ra.

So, suspect Din will have his hero journey. It's just I'll have to wait for it, wait for more moments like Mayfield and characters like Kuiil....in between the fan service character of the week. Probably something horrible like a pickled Palps:stake or red-eyed toddler Kylo glaring from behind Luke:horror, when Luke hands Grogu back to Din.

I get that the fan service made a lot of people ecstatic. I really do. I also get both Favreau and Filoni are long-time SW fans. For me - I'm just a lot more wary of this show than I was. Especially if Filoni is writing the script.:blissysmi

I'm with you in that I prefer new characters and ideas vs. adapting characters/stories already introduced elsewhere, but given the time frame of the show I'm glad it was Ahsoka vs. the introduction of yet ANOTHER Jedi or quasi-Jedi, especially since supposedly Luke & Leia were the only ones around at that point. At least with Ahsoka she technically doesn't contradict what Yoda told us.

Hopefully most of the fan service will be relegated to the other series now and only occasionally intersect with The Mando show during the inevitable "Avengers" team-ups.

Is that true or canon? I really don't know:dunno. I am interpolating....at least partially based on comments in Rebels - that there were thousands of Jedi; that while order 66 took out most, surely a FEW - whether by luck, or circumstance, or dropping part of a building on attacking Clones - survived. And if you are Force sensitive, you would have felt the slaughter. Enough that you would go underground, to exile, as Yoda and Obi-wan did.

Even if such a remnant became aware of Luke Skywalker, they might be wary of making themselves known. I was really hoping for another Force wielder or Jedi to come out of the woodwork - just as I was hoping Grogu's story wouldn't have supposedly stuck him back on Coruscant. Again. When apparently there WERE other Jedi temples. I was actually pretty happy with the remnants of Tython - reminded me of something very real world, mostly forgotten after thousands of years.:clap

Hopefully most of the fan service will be relegated to the other series now and only occasionally intersect with The Mando show during the inevitable "Avengers" team-ups.

This is what I hope for - tho I am afraid of Filoni:horror. Who is an acolyte of Lucas. And George Lucas apparently listens to no-one "critic proof". :nana:

But to be more positive - liked the latest Disney Gallery. It's always enjoyable seeing the dedication of the model builders, make-up artists, production crew:clap. I especially liked Rick Famuyiwa's commentary on Din D'jarin making a choice for the sake of the child. And to be fair, Rosario Dawson looked like she was putting her back into playing Ahsoka - she looked beautiful under the "normal lights" - the physicality. And Temura Morrison.

I hope those model builders are hard at work doing something for Din D'jarin - along with the story - because at the moment the man has no ship, no child, no pulse rifle, and a kinda disgruntled Mandalorian leader. Maybe Din will just go back to Arvala-7 and move into Kuill's ranch, seeking peace.:monkey3:monkey2:cool:

As you should be. :lol

I'm gonna watch it, but my expectations, which weren't high to begin with, are lower now. Expensive cartoon is just fine.

I didn't have ANY expectations at first. Then they soared. This would be a new chapter in Star Wars, an expansion of the galaxy, iconic characters for the AGES:blissy....and then...

razorcrestgone.jpg

Even if Favreau privately felt doubts about the character-derailing WTF dribble in Filoni's script re Grogu...

baby-yoda-macaron.jpg

Imagine he's not gonna say anything, 'coz they're friends.

Nothing I can do about it tho. The Pandora's box was opened. Maybe I'll get lucky tho and the Armorer will make a reappearance.

Oh well, at least you gave it a second chance. I applaud you for that. Not sure I needed to know about the falling asleep part, though. It's like telling me that you kicked my dog, and then going into detail about what kind of boots you were wearing. Damn, man. ;)

Well Sass, if you're still hoping for a return to the Din of the first season, I think you might be better off realigning your expectations. The "loner gunslinger-turned-guardian" seems to have been replaced by "reluctant Lancelot." I think the third season will go heavy on the darksaber-wielding throne of Mandalore, and how that will shake out.

Fett just took the throne of a criminal underworld. Din might've just inherited the throne of Mandalore (with Bo-Katan wanting it back). When Favreau referenced going with a Game of Thrones vibe, it seems he might've meant that quite literally. :lol

Because I'm willing to bet as far as Filoni is concerned, if George Lucas wrote it, we'd better take it. And watching
Clone Wars and Rebels, far as I can tell, Filoni never saw an SW character he didn't like - dead or alive. Even if
he has to manipulate time and space.

I'm really gonna CHERISH my HT Mando version 1. And my HASBRO Razor Crest.:crying

You have to consider the fact that they are required to not screw with the timeline , and probably also required to stick to cannon.

You make it out like these writers have total creative control. I guarantee no matter who is writing and directing they have to be approved by committee.

I am sure studio input is given on making sure certain characters make an appearance.

Oh, no doubt. With KK sitting at the table and hanging around the set, as tho she weren't guilty of the conspiracy and execution for Poppins Leia, among other shameful cinematic crimes.:pfft:

Hopefully since Disney got their advertisements in, they will go away now, and let Favreau smooth things out and continue with a compelling story. Of some kind. Unless Disney feels like they have to stuff more characters in, at every opportunity, so they can sell licenses for toys and SW blanket sets, to make up for the losses at closed parks.
