Mando’s story is only secondary who people can go gaga over stuff like this in between action scenes.

The episode is basically him needing a babysitter with weapons so he can focus on his own mission. They decided to go with the cash cow method so for better or worse, there will never be Din without Grogu.
Now if the next scene were Googoo chewing the Frik-thing's face off...well, then we'd be onto something!

A whole toy store shelf of [Babu Friks] spring to life talking gibberish and being irritating. Where was that whack rabbit droid from BOBF? Would've fit right in.

Lucasfilm is gonna need some ice for that burn right there. In other news:

*Who knew that alligator from "Lake Placid" was gonna be a thing again.....?

*Gorgeous Mandos as far as the eye can see, so many interesting armors.

*Too much Greef Karga, although he was looking right. Those droids holding up his train were a bit much though.

*This episode is all over the place, all the time! We are here, there and everywhere

*More Mandos doing ceremonial s*** please. Was that Vizla's son being initiated?

*Who let Swamp Thing on the set, fr.

*Lots of aliens, this has plus points and minus points. Wanna bet that that main pirate guy gets a HT figure before Cassian Andor does? Would not bet a dollar that he wont.

*Everyone stop trying to domesticate Mando! He is wild and free, he does not want to buy a house, ffs

*I want to build a shooting gallery and duct-tape every one of those Babu Frik stand-ins to a target. Only .50 cal ammo is allowed, who's with me?

* BO-KATAN GIVING MAAAAAJOR "CONAN! WHAT IS BEST IN LIFE!" vibes. Bo is an angry, angry girl. Full of sarcasm. I like her even more.

*Space whales. This season is gonna be something. What exactly, we shall see.

Verdict: 3.5 out of 5 stars, I felt like we should have gotten two episodes.

I watched it. Kind of went nowhere. Lots of stops.

What does Bo-Katan do all day?

Why the **** would you hold a ceremony in a lake with a monster like that? And how stupid is this little cult of colorful wannabe mandos? Three guys use grappling hooks on that huge beast? They gonna hold it, huh? That whole scene baffled me -- from the poorly cast (producer's) kid to the over-sized beastie which was clearly just there for a "dramatic" entrance for Mando.

I definitely see where Galaxy's Edge is headed -- complete with that white 3PO welcoming guests to that band of alien singers to the central square with IG-11 statue (complete or not).

Unless Pirate Captain Gorian Shard is the Big Bad, this episode didn't focus the season much.

That whole intro scene got me thinking... was that the son of one of the members of that clan? If he is, is there an exemption to the helmet rule? Like.... do they make babies while wearing helmets? Are they allowed to remove their helmets within their main families? Do they have families or do they just steal children off other people? :lol

such an intriguing idea, I would love to see a whole series dedicated to this one to learn more about this culture of Mandalorian.

Another thing that irked was...what is happening to these directors on this show? Both Rick Famuyiwa and Debra Chow started on this show with some really strong episodes in earlier seasons. Well-directed, well put together. Then something happens...does their creative soul get sucked out working in the volume or something? Chow went on to direct the dreadful Kenobi series and Famuyiwa is responsible for this hot mess we all just watched. Both have been caught babbling in interviews saying the company line of how great it all is while churning out crap. It's too weird to be coincidental.

This episode especially had those yucky "Bad Robot" vibes...don't worry about logic or continuity or even making sense. Just slather it with fan service and lots of boom boom and no one will notice there is nothing there. And don't forget...Grogu is ADORABLE.

I hope there is a big u-turn in quality next week.

Just watched the premiere. My impressions:

Grogu served no real purpose (though the hyperspace scene was nice)
The pirates were very BoBF in the worst possible way
Why didnt the Mando baptism party just retreat to the cave instead of engaging a creature which clearly out matched them (grapple hooks? Seriously?)
I liked the Bo Katan scene. Reminded me of TCW Maul lounging on the throne.
I do like IG11 being brought back,

That is all. :moon

I'm currently in the middle of watching Andor (as BOBF & Obi-Wan left me disillusioned, so I thought I only watch these series once I can binge), so watching this episode was even more jarring in terms of overall quality. I can only agree with what everybody said regarding nothing making sense, other than trying to establish "cool" scenes.

Even the whole scene trying to repair IG-11. Why did Greef Karga wait with telling Din that they actually have the best droid repair shop in town? Oh, because they wanted that Terminator end scene call-back and the corny one liner about using your head.

Everything just feels incredibly shallow and one-dimensional. Just another product to pump out now instead of trying something different.
