I don't think any of us would complain if any of the cameos were was well-handed as that scene was.

That's the kind of storytelling and acting and unexpected stuff we need more of.
And that's a guy that doesn't even really like Star Wars bringing his A-game to a small cameo role.

Honestly at this point, none of the same old “I was a big lifelong fan growing up” nonsense every actor/director says, when they’re brought on board, even has any meaning left. It’s just another opening line at another press conference for them.

I don't mind cameos as long as they are done well but most of them haven't been. Bill Burr was great, especially in Season 2, he really killed that one scene where he executes the Imperial guy.

Cameos should be one of two things:
  1. A celebrity appearing as a Trooper or an Alien where you don't even know it's them (Simon Pegg in TFA).
  2. An actual character that maybe shows up for an episode or two and actually brings something of value (Bill Burr).
Bill Burr was the best of the bunch… would have still preferred another actor. Every time I see him I just see Bill Burr. He just doesn’t look or sound like someone from the SW universe imo

I thought he was goofy in his first appearance, but then again, ALL those guys in that episode were as goofy and over the top as Adam West Batman villains.

He really got some depth in the second episode. By the end, I believed in his backstory. I liked the humanity he showed to Mando by telling him "I never saw your face."

I think anyone and anything can work in Star Wars as long as it's well written and well directed, the universe is so vast that it's almost impossible for something not to fit.

I don’t care how well written the show is, Jack Black and Lizzo will never fit in.

While they are at it, keep Bobcat Goldthwait and Wanda Sykes out of the SW Universe also :lol

She could have fit if they just mad her a background alien or something.

Jack Black would have been fine had they not made him the Jack Black stereotype, he can actually act and has range but it’s very rarely ever utilised by the writers and directors.

What was the 'celebration' about by the way?
ROTJ 40th / Ahsoka / Mando / Acolyte / Andor / 3 New Movies ( Mando, Rey, Old Republic)

The PT fans are carrying SW right now.

Ahsoka / CW / Rebels / Thrawn / Ahmed Best / Hayden etc etc

I think by them doubling down on Rey tells me that they see what was once hated, the PT, is now super loved so they’re hoping the same happens for the ST.

Problem is it took 13-20 years for the love for the PT to explode tremendously.

They are rushing fans to accept the ST in only 6 years. Remember hate started for the ST in 2017 with TLJ.

Make it 9 years because Rey’s movie is still a few years away.

Well this should come as a no shock to anyone who appreciates quality over agenda, Tony Gilroy was the stand out interview at celebration the dude is a genius he knows what he wants.
What he said about having a conclusion in mind is exactly what I love to see. So many damn tv shows don't have an endpoint in mind, or do and end up rushing for it when they get cancelled. I'd much prefer an incredible 2-3 season show which has a fantastic ending set up from day one, compared to a 5 season show that has a wonderful first 4 seasons and then an awful 5th that leads to it being cancelled after season 6, which leads to a rushed and hodgepodge ending. Leaving your audience wanting more is probably the most powerful reaction you can leave an audience member with when you look at these long running franchises. Gilroy is on track to absolutely pull that off with Andor.

Mando on the other hand...well it has the feeling of that latter example. Maybe Filoni's movie being an end point may help it...

If they're going to bring back Rey then on one hand I'm glad they're doing it while Daisy is still in her prime but giving her movie to the Ms. Marvel director puts me firmly in the "KK doubling down on stupid" camp.
