The more I think about it, the more I think it takes place after Jack meets the Doctor. Also, I wish we had definitive word on if Torchwood was going to jump the pond. NBC/Universal should have worked out a deal that allowed them to air series 3 concurrently with the BBC, same with Torchwood. Throw them on NBC or Sci Fi on a Friday or Saturday night when ratings or usually low anyway and there ya go. Fantastic entertainment, low cost and decent ratings. I hear tell that Doctor Who pulls in at least a million and a half viewers on Sci Fi. For a Friday night and an import show, I don't think that's half bad.

I wish we could get a concurrent schedule here in the states with the uk schedule. I know that I have the BBC, but the episodes that I have all say it's usually on BBC3. Seeing as though I don't have that, I never get it. :monkey2 :monkey2 Does anybody know if the new season will show on BBC America?

I don't think the BBC would be allow to screen at the same time in america as UK people pay for the BBC through a licence fee which is compulsory. people would start asking why are we paying the fee when US get it at the same time for free.

oh wow, i didn't know people payed for the bbc 1,2,3. forgive my ignorance, but is it a pay channel or a channel that everybody gets. I thought it was like an cbs/nbc/fox, etc that we get in the U.S.

It one of the annoying things in UK.......you HAVE to pay......it's called a TV licence (like for your car) and you get the BBC channels (really state TV funded by us) and if you don't pay & get caught you face a financial fine or at worst jail :lol

BBC America was always the back-up plan for Who. Originally SciFi passed on the show. But then the DVD came out in Britain and was announced for America. After NBC/Universal saw all the interest, they jumped on. The American DVD was pushed back and the rest is history. So I don't think BBC America will pick up Who. But they might get Torchwood if SciFi passes.

Ah but the advantage to how things are run in the UK is that the shows are intterrupted by commercials. That is my one biggest complaint and why I love Doctor Who, you never get a momentum killer.

Ok I may be wrong here, but my UK friends can correct me. When you get a TV you must also obtain a license. I am not sure if it is yearly, monthly? But you pay for the TV license and then you can get BBC 1, 2, 3. I believe it works like that, if not feel free to correct/enlighten me.

annually (around £120 I think)

you get BBC 1, 2, 3, 4, BBCHD & CBeebies (children channel)

and bbc radio stations 1-5

WOAH. That is one expensive license. How is the other BBC programming? I honestly only know of Doctor Who and what we get on BBC America... which eventually gets American-ized and loses alot in the translation (Cash in the Attic).

WOAH is right. 120 euros is like $200. if it was like that here, I wouldn't even bother. jeez, that suck man.

If you want premium satellite channels it's even worse it can come to about £35.00 per month if you want all the movie channels:D .

You guys get cash in the attic over in the states, ha ha ha! That's so cool, it's a daytime TV show over here.

I didn't realise you didn't have to pay TV licence there, you're so lucky. Yeah it's real rip off but you can't have a TV in the UK without a licence if the detector vans find your signal they'll slap you with a hefty fine which is much worse.

We're charged for BBC services but ITV is much better anyway, except for Who of course.

Anyway I've met a couple of cast members from Dr Who at a convention, Mickey the Idiot was there. He was a pretty nice guy in real life and certainly loved all the attention he was getting from the ladies. The lucky so and so.

The series really gains as it goes along. There are the few not as great but theyre usually wonderful every ep and the characters only get more and more complex and interesting.
Still gotta get afew more friends onto the show.
:D

I always liked the two parters from the Who series, both series one and two did great two part episodes.

Wait till you guys see The Impossible Planet/The Satan Pit later in the season, I'm amazed they got away with showing it at 7pm at night in the UK. It's pretty scary, not blood or anything but still really creepy, you'll see what I mean.

What do you guys across the pond make of the Slitheen? I know a lot of people in the UK didn't like them but I really enjoyed Aliens Of London.

Two parters are the best as the writers get more times to build the story up.

Anyone catch Giles -- I mean Anthony Head -- on Doctor Who last night?
Yeah, that was a neat surprise, as were Sarah Jane and K9. Every episode of this new season has been great so far, and Tennant has proven to be a fantastic Doctor.

Plus News 24 & Radio stations 6 & 7 too... the latter my particular favourite; The Goon Show and I'm Sorry I Haven't A Clue back-to-back every Monday. Hell, that's worth great lumps of the licence fee already before you've even started to figure in Who, Planet Earth (and all their Natural History output), Bleak House, BBC News, TMS, Have I Got News For You etc.

No complaint about the licence fee from me - I feel it's more than worth it, plus just look at the alternatives; commercials every 15 minutes (heh, I remember the days when ITV used to be watchable... for me it's absolute dross these days) and/or the gospel according to Rupert (Evil Bastard) Murdoch.

Make mine BBC :)

Now, if only RDT could find someway of bringing Tony Head back... as The Master :)

HELL yes it does...next week's episode "The Girl in the Fireplace" next week is one of the season's best (including Sophia Myles, who is one of hottest woman I have ever seen), and The Impossible Planet, The Satan Pit, Army of Ghosts, Doomsday; great episodes, can't wait to see them again on the big screen on sci-fi here in the states.

"Girl in the Fireplace" was written, of course, by Steven Moffat of Coupling fame who also wrote two of my favorites from season one: "The Empty Child" and "The Doctor Dances."

Oh, and "Doctor Who and the Curse of the Fatal Death" parody.
