Re: The Apple Tablet "The iPad"

I never touch my digital copies, but something like this would tempt me to actually use them.

Re: The Apple Tablet "The iPad"

So without knowing much about this stuff and without reading over all the little details. Can you download the digital copies of movies that come with blurays and upload them to this?

Yep. I already rip my dvds, convert them into a compatible format and shove it onto my iPhone, I'm thinking it should work the same on iPad.

Re: The Apple Tablet "The iPad"

Dude, when you pay s**t ton of money in the new, updated and improved second version the third one will arrive. When you pay s**t ton of money on the new, updated and improved third version, the fourth one will arrive. When you pay s**t ton of ...........

Luis

the price'll drop eventually...just like flat screen tv's

Re: The Apple Tablet "The iPad"

You know, based on the highest spec'd and highest priced iPad sku, one could already predict what the 2nd gen version will have (next year, probably):

Memory bumped up to 160gb
faster proprietary Apple A4 chip. Quicker processor. Perhaps more advanced proprietary independent graphics chip.
4G network instead of 3G
OLED screen (this one is a stretch)

If none of that really concerns you, I think it's safe to be an early adopter.

i'll trade up when that comes around :lol

Re: The Apple Tablet "The iPad"

So I can get this without needing an ATT contract, I just wont get the 3G service correct?

Re: The Apple Tablet "The iPad"

Ok, I'm a novice to this connection stuff, I've always just used a basic cell phone and all.

What, in terms of what you can do with this iPad, is the difference between just having Wi-Fi connection and having Wi-Fi and 3G?

Re: The Apple Tablet "The iPad"

Mmm.. mighty tempting. Then again, it not running Flash is a bit of a kick to the nuts. BUT I can use it in class and use it to set up all my lessons.. ugh I may need to do my own hands on and see if it fits my needs.

The Wi-Fi-only version means that you will have high-speed internet at any location that features a wireless internet connection, such as a coffee shop, certain airports and bars, and my house. :)

3G is a cellular-based network that would give you a slower-speed internet connection anywhere where AT&T offers the 3G service. It's the same as that which comes with the iPhone.

Re: The Apple Tablet "The iPad"

Good pricing. Might get one when one of my laptops bites the dust.

Will it have Flash?

The biggest fail of the iphone is not being able to watch Hulu on it . . . .

Re: The Apple Tablet "The iPad"

So basically, 3G is the only way to have internet almost anywhere, provide AT&T has coverage in the area, like if you're out in a park somewhere and want to dial in. With Wi-Fi, it's just a matter of tapping into a wireless internet broadcast and unless you're close to a transmitter you're screwed. Ultimately, for internet during any sort of travel on the road or something like that, you need 3G or you won't have internet.

Precisely.

Damn. I was thinking this was pretty cool until I clicked this link and started reading all the techie responses to it. Kind of talking me out of the first go around.

Yeah, I laughed at one of the comments. "my brother recently bought an iPad Nano. It was called the IPhone."

I'm still unsure about it. I would like to use it first.

Re: The Apple Tablet "The iPad"

I'm pretty sure they make portable 3g hotspot things you can take anywhere that don't require contracts or a monthly service. Not sure if you could use it with this though. I may be completely wrong though.
