Re: The Apple Tablet "The iPad"

I have no problem being an early adopter...did it with the iphone and wasn't disappointed. As far as product updates, I don't mind it as long as they continue improving stuff as they go.

Re: The Apple Tablet "The iPad"

Like I said, this is the first the world's being aware of the existence of an Apple device like this, now the customer feedback will start rolling in and they'll get to work on making the next one capable of more. Developing something like this somewhat in secret, there are limits to the feedback Apple can use for deciding what to make this capable of doing, now that it's public, the consumers can really voice up.

It's been a while, but wasn't there quite a change from Gen 1 to Gen 2 of iPhone because of significant feedback from consumers?

Re: The Apple Tablet "The iPad"

But I really think Marvel and DC should jump on this now. This kind of thing could revitalize the comic book industry like nothing else. I won't go to a comic shop weekly, but if I could download an individual issue I'd definitely do that. And I'd still get the trades when they came out.
This is an excellent idea, it would certainly get me reading comics again!

The key I find to feeling ok with buying something is to buy it right around when it comes out, you've probably got at least a year of being the current model, once you get past 6 months or so, you can almost sense you're on the brink of the next model and are better off waiting if you can.

Definitely. I don't mind having the current model or even the latest previous gen as long as we continue to get software/firmware support.

they will. IDW already has comics for the iPhone, and Marvel already has motion comics for the iPhone. i guarantee you they will have comics for the iPad.

I don't mind that either, but when the design changes and features that aren't available for last years model come out within a year of purchase it drives me crazy.

Yeah, I got bit in the butt by that with my G5. I had to buy the G5 because it was the only thing out when I was about to graduate college and lose my student discount, had to cash in on that while I could, but then like 5 months later the Intel Macs came out and over the past year or two I'd been running into being left behind having Power PC. I'm on Mac Pro now so all's good, but with computers, compatibility can be a problem when the next Gen makes certain leaps that obsolete your machine.

The new iPods and iPhones are nice, but I don't believe anything about them makes older ones useless like the Power PC to Intel switch did for the computers.

Re: The Apple Tablet "The iPad"

I'll sit this one out. Obviously the next iterations will get cheaper and better. If this had a voice plan, I would ditch my iPhone.

So how do you feel about v1 and DX Joker :lol

I can't imagine using this as a phone, maybe I'm just old school but I don't like talking on a phone without holding it to my ear and mouth like a traditional phone unless I'm driving, I can't imagine just holding this thing in my lap and having a conversation, plus, unless you're in a private spot, other people would hear the other line too.
