Thieves Want to Steal the iPad, and They Will Rip Off Fingers to Get It

Some thieves will stop at nothing to steal your expensive iPad. In the case of 59-year-old Bill Jordan (pictured right), the thief not only stole his iPad, but part of his left pinky finger.

The story, according to Denver’s KDVR, goes like this: Last Thursday, Jordan went to the Cherry Creek Mall in order to buy an iPad from the Apple store. After Jordan purchased his Apple tablet, he wrapped the bag holding the iPad around his fingers so he wouldn’t drop it.

Eventually, Jordan left the mall. He didn’t know, however, that a figure was tailing him with the intent of stealing his iPad. He was spun around by the thief and a struggle ensued. The thief kept pulling on the bag — so hard in fact that it stripped the flesh from Jordan’s pinky finger, all the way to the bone. The finger had to be amputated.

If that mental image doesn’t make you shudder, then you have a sturdier stomach than I do. The suspect has yet to be caught.

The iPad is an expensive object that criminals will steal if given the chance, just like your smartphone, laptop or iPod. Take care when you’re carrying your iPad around. And, of course, always be aware of your surroundings

Re: The Apple Tablet "The iPad"

Just confirms that nothing good can come of this (iPad) and the DD (KFC).

Hey now!!! My Pad has brought me nothing but joy and entertainment since I've had it. Good thing nobody has tried to take mine since I have a concealed weapons permit. :D The gun is in the car, but my Spyderco is always in my pocket.

I'm not going to lie...

This might very well be the best investment I've ever made. I was a bit skeptical as to how much I'd use it, but it's almost as often as my laptop.

I was going to get one. Now that I have the iPhone I have no need.

Re: The Apple Tablet "The iPad"

I still want one of these. :lecture

If I bought one it would be a novelty item. The iphone does everything that I wanted the ipad to do for me. Albeit smaller. Hell I hardly ever post from my computer anymore. It's all from my living room upstairs on my phone. :yess:

Re: The Apple Tablet "The iPad"

Have you read anything using iBooks yet?? I can't imagine that would be fun on a phone.

Just the demo that came on the phone. However, now that there is a MAJOR war between nook and kindle and the prices have come WAY down, I see NO need for an ipad now. I have my iPhone to browse the web and do pretty much everything. If I want a reader I will just buy one. They are MUCH easier on the eyes then an iPad or even iPhone. :lecture To me (and you know how bad I wanted one) I just don't need it. It's obsolete because of my phone. I had a blackberry before and it wasn't even wifi. This phone is so great I honestly have no use for an ipad. It's just not worth it.

Re: The Apple Tablet "The iPad"

I probably wouldn't read books on the iPhone, but it would be nice to surf around the house. I'm posting from my phone now, but the bigger screen on the iPhone would be nice for that.

I think I'm over the e-book thing since I'm about to sell my Kindle and I'm currently reading a regular book. :dunno

I was too, when it was introduced I thought the same as everyone, just a big iPod Touch.

Well, I got one for father's day and I love it. I use it so much, between my iPhone and iPad I hardly use my MacBook Pro.
