Re: The Apple Tablet "The iPad"

Just installed the ghost armor. What a ____ing process. While the back is alright I've got an email out to see if I can return the screen protector for the front. Pretty retarded the steps you have to go through to apply it and it had a little white speck or scratch right dead in the center on the inside of it. I was hoping I could apply it and not be bothered by it but it's bugging the ____ out of me. I think I'll be sticking with the SGP. At least for the front.

It really isn't that hard. :dunno

Re: The Apple Tablet "The iPad"

It's not that it's hard, it's tedious and messy. The front piece isn't nearly as nice as the SGP screens either. I like the back, hate the front.

Sorry to hear that. You can order a free replacement. They can be a _____ to install without getting stuff under it.

This sounds weird but try installing them in the bathroom with the shower on hot. The steam helps keep the lint and dirt off the screen before you get the shield on.

Re: The Apple Tablet "The iPad"

believe it or not but I'm still waiting on one I have reserved from my local Best Buy. I reserved one the day after launch and I'm still 4th on the list when I checked the other day. Is is worth the wait guys???

One of my local Best Buys had quite a few different iPad 2 models and colors in stock as of Tuesday.

Personally, I recently bought a Nook Color and rooted it into a nice little Android tablet for $250. Not as nice as an iPad 2 but it does what I want and the price was right.

I have a camera but it's not a DSLR....And I have a laptop....and an iphone 4....the only real reason I want the ipad 2 is so I can watch MLB at bat on a bigger screen at work since I work at night and most of the games are at night....

MLB at bat works on the regular ol' computer, so if that's your only reason (and I assume you dig photography enough to get a DSLR), I'd go w/ the camera.

Work must be tough... :lol

I know....but I don't feel like lugging my 17" laptop to work every day...I'm thinking real hard about going for the camera....I know I would get my use out of both but I think the ipad 3 will be more of an upgrade than the ipad 2 was....

Re: The Apple Tablet "The iPad"

So I had to share this... I came home this week to visit my folks in florida. I surprised them with an early birthday gift, the iPad 2. They absolutely flipped out and loved it. I bought this because they own an HP laptop and an old PC. I live in Cali now, so video chatting is horrible at best. And my father also has his own medical practice that he has been pondering on investing in these iPads in order to turn the office into a more digital environment. They are not tech savvy at all, so I took it upon myself to give them the technology boost they needed. So I presented them with the iPad 2 and helped them get familiar with it all week... It's funny how when you're a kid it drives you CRAZY to help your parents figure out their emails or cell phones. And now that I'm growing up, and seeing them age I couldn't be happier to teach them this. It's like I'm the one providing them the fulfilling birthday/christmas gifts now, and it seriously makes me so happy to see them light up with joy.

Pardon the cheesiness, but I thought this was appropriate for this thread :) anyone else have great experiences with sharing these new technology phenomenons with their family/loved ones?

Re: The Apple Tablet "The iPad"

Cool story.

We own three iPads in our family. iPad2 for me, iPad2 for wife, and older iPad for the kids. We just bought both of our parents an iPad 2 too since they would never actually buy it for themselves. It's funny, I swear they use it more than we do! They love it and use facetime to see the grandkids all the time now. We also bought them Apple TVs to stream Netflix and they are addicted to that too.

Got to love technology. ;)

I don't own an iPad, but as a new iPhone user, I LOVE Facetime. So nice to be able to talk and SEE the ones you love, when you're not able to in person. It really changes things.

+1 about technology.

:lecture:lecture:lecture

That's a main reason I got it for them. They had the hardest time getting video chat to work on their HP laptop. Funny thing, when I showed my dad how to FaceTime, his response was "it's so easy".....

Re: The Apple Tablet "The iPad"

So I picked up a 16GB iPad 2 last week and i think it is fantastic. The only thing though is that it has a medium amount of light bleed on the left hand side. I've seen on various forums cases much worse than mine. It's something I could live with, if I had to...

My question is: would it be best to try to wait at least a few months for a replacement? I bought it from the Apple Store, so I should be able to bring it in within the next year for a replacement, right? My 14 day return window is this Sunday, so I'm just curious of my options.
