Re: The Apple Tablet "The iPad"

I'm not sure what market this caters too, it seems like a fun tool with some useful functions like the phone but so far, no demonstration of the full functionality a laptop would offer.

its like a netbook only more badass! way more!

Except as far as I can see, it can run apps like a notebook, like Photoshop or stuff like that.

If this thing can run Aperture I'd definitely buy it for field uploads of photos when I do shoots.

But it doesn't have a memory card slot or a USB slot; at least it hasn't been announced yet.

of course not... it's flash memory. and being that apple would want to push their mobleme product, there's no need for it. more $$$ for them to make.

something i'm ok with myself :)

True, if that's the case too, then I wouldn't have use for it like I mentioned.

I've often thought about getting a Mac laptop to have on the road with me, I feel like the ability to check photos right on the spot woudl be advantageous, especially on photoshoots. No in camera viewere can compare to uploaded shots on the PC, the picture is clearer and you could really see if things didn't turn out as you wanted and reshoot if necessary, but the laptops are a bit too pricey to get just for that function, something like this could be a solution if it had the software and plugin ability.

Re: The Apple Tablet "The iPad"

how could 64GB of flash memory have no use for you? how many RAW images are you planning on putting on there?

meh, to each his own. me = apple whore = buying 2 (one for my wife).

Re: The Apple Tablet "The iPad"

I'm not talking about the memory. What I'm looking for this to be able to do is if I'm out at a studio doing a photo shoot, and I want to see how a set of photos turned out, I could plug my camera into this tablet, pull them up in Aperture and browse through them, but if the tablet won't let you connect a camera or memory card, then I can't use it for the purpose I have in mind.

This is still a really nice device, I'm just thinking now of the photography purpose now that I'd love if this device could support.

I think he meant it has no use for him as he wouldn't be able to upload pictures from his camera whenever he is out doing photo shoots.

I am an Apple whore as well, buying 10

Just kidding, buying only 1.

I think he more or less means having the ability to put pictures on there on the fly with a USB thumb drive or memory card. I totally see his point, and overlooked this because of how sexy it looks.
