Re: The Apple Tablet "The iPad"

Call me crazy, but this is gonna kill the Kindle and Nook.
I'd have to see how the reading capability would look like, but if it's like the current iTouch/iPhone screens there is no way I could use it as an e-reader (and I think avid readers would probably have the same opinion). One of the perks of the nook and kindle is that it's like you're reading an actual book (which puts less strain on the eyes), so that is where they have an advantage. So, unless the iPad has that same look, I don't think readers will be happy in the long run with Apple's answer to a kindle or nook.

Will this announcement kill the Kindle and Nook...I'd say the potential is there of course as people would be drawn more to an all in one device. But again, I'd have to see how the iPad looks in an e-reader mode to see if it truly is on par with a Kindle or Nook.

"The iPad syncs over USB just like an iPhone or iPod."

I'm not talking about sycing though, I'm talking about about camera-to-iPad connection.

True, but I'm sure there will be an App that will give the same effect.

Yeah, it connects to a computer over USB but devices can not connect to it, like a camera. That is what Maulfan is talking about.

Luis

I thought about that after I posted the image. I bet it is something you can't do.

Re: The Apple Tablet "The iPad"

Which is too bad, maybe photographers will write in with a suggestion for the next generation, or maybe the iPad can't support the type of software, but there's an advantage to having a real display to look over your photos while in process of shooting, and with the size of this screen, and possibly costing less than a Mac laptop, this could have been a solution.

Re: The Apple Tablet "The iPad"

Then there’s 32GB for $599 and 64GB for $699. These are for the Wi-Fi only version.

And the 3G models cost an extra $130, so $629, $729 and $829 for the 3G-capable models.

“We will be shipping iPads in 60 days, worldwide availability of Wi-Fi models.” It’ll be another 30 days beyond that for 3G models.

I look forward to the Quicktime video being added to Apple's site later.
