it was one of those "could have been better" movies...but remember, its the "sequal" to one of the worst travasties in both franchises historys', so it had ALOT to make up for.

i stopped reading your review after this statement. AVP was a great film compared to AVP-R. i liked AVP, and apparently the collectors did too from the prices the celtic, scar, ancient and chopper preds are selling for. all AVP-R did was introduce a pretty neat predalien and the cleaner with his bag of tricks. story sucked, cinematography sucked, teens sucked, and the gay 'go to the center of town', right where the hotbed of alien activity is to be picked up was pathetic. only one girl had the sense not to go, and convinced some other morons not to either. that script had to be written by a first year film student.

Somehow I think this discussion already happened in about 10 other threads. Do we really need to discuss further? :dunno

I actually enjoyed this more than AVP, but I think part of it was super low expecations and part of those expectations was a mindless movie. Honestly you could have substituted any 2 alien or monsters in the film and it wouldn't have changed it much. So just on entertaintment I liked it, but as the follow up to the Alien and Predator franchises it certainly didn't do that well.

yes i agree....
I liked it because of the Wolf, and Predalien.
this is why i love the movie.

~~to all the people that hate this movie STFU and go cry somewhere else. what did you seriously expect??? i'll admit this isn't the greatest movie to ever be made, but if you're dumb enough to sit down and watch it while expecting something as good as the originals than you need get a clue and go watch Hannah Montana.

I ^^^^ing hate this movie ..........
it made the alien creature on a whole look like a retard , what was the idea of that alien flopping on the window like a zombie in the chopper and the one that kept crawling to them ?.

And a predalien hiding in the bushes ?. Surely if it was half of a creature that was an expert at camouflage it would pick a better place to hide and take a look around than a bush :lol.

The lighting for the whole movie sucked balls and you couldn't see most if not all of the scenes that were nearly good.

They ripped off all of the aliens by bringing in no name actors to be marines and get killed off by the so called aliens that looked like rubber Halloween suits.
Then they even ripped off predator by having the guy say " get to the chopper " in his terrible voice. Plus they even called him Dallas ??!!.
What are he chances of all this being the same ?. Its obvious its all in so called " tribute " and its as if its a fan movie.

The first 40 minutes of the movie was about a kid who couldn't get a girlfriend because he was too much of a ^^^^^ to go and beat the ^^^^ out of some dick with a hair cut what made him look like he should of been in the German army because they both wanted a girl who was a ^^^^ing idiot anyway .. oh and also couldn't act like the rest of them.

Finally after the 40 minutes of crap bordem they finally all started a fight in a pool which lasted for like 20 minutes whilst it cut to another scene . What the hell were they doing in the pool for twenty minutes whilst the other scene was happening ?.
Hopefully learning how to act.

They ripped off predator again by having wolf walk out of the water.
Wolf killed aliens as if they were mice and he was waay to powerful.

Although I like it the predalien could of looked alot better and more time needed to be put in the overall design.
The aliens looked terrible compared to past designs.
Luckily we could barely see them.

The directors are not directors they are special effects guys but judging from the aliens in the movie I'm actually having a hard time believing them.

And what the hell was that ending about ??.
Who ever had thought Yutani would of been a grumpy old woman wearing a tight leather outfit looking like a gimp with a lost mask.

At least they killed off most of the people.

If anyone disagrees your an idiot.

Hated the acting and the teenagers.
Love Wolf and lots of computer stuff which makes it look real so i would say
50/50

.............no way.....

maybe for the predator but everything else sucked.
Put wolf in the temple against grid and that would kick ass. :rock:rock

Tyler D Wrote - stopped reading your review after this statement. AVP was a great film compared to AVP-R.

And that is your opinion Tyler, and i respect that. AvP was a good popcorn flick in my opinion, but i couldnt possibly go and say "it was a great film"..heck, AvP-R was Dawsons Creek with more aliens in it, wouldnt class it as a Movie more of an embarassment.

It might be because i hold some ill feelings towards the director (due to treatment whilst working with him on that very film) that i personally dislike AvP more than AvP-R...and to be honest i find AvP-R worse than AvP on many levels.

Its only saving graces to me were the return of the BLOOD COVERED Chestburster (or as my nephews call him...Buster), a neat looking Predator and the return to the Winston-style Aliens, which i like. Yes the PredAlien was nice looking, almost reminded me of my ex-girlfriend...upset her and she'd try to kill me too, but i digress.

I guess the final reason i dont LOVE both films is that i'm too ingrained into the great work that was done with the first two Predator films in the form of the Predators themselves (all be it, the elder in 2 was a re-dress of the pred from no.1). I see the Predators in AvP as being lower in quality to the Hunter from Predator 2, and even that felt lower in quality to the Original...

One thing always sticks out in my mind, when the "Scar" Predator removes his helmet just after the cave-in/explosion and roars at Alexa (yes i know the names...shoot me), he looks like he has some sort of rash, maybe they dont have topical creams in the Predator medical kits but jeeez, that just put me off them.

Anyway, thats MY personal opinion...both films were a 50/50 mesh of good/bad ideas, good/bad implimentation and good/bad/down right awful directorial work, as for scripts...Anderson did try to make a good story, the boys on AvP-R seemed to just think "hey, its Aliens and Predator...who needs a "script", we'll just swear alot".

Thats my Opinion Tyler, you have yours...all i can suggest is that we never go see AvP3 togeather as we'll argue the whole time the film is playing...either that or you'll beat me to death with the chair next to you...:angelsmil

I think it just took the piss out of the other movies and the directors and actors were all in this for the cash. No heart in it !.

The only thing I'm gonna say, is that Ian Whyte portrayed a Predator exceptionally well after all of the crap people said about him in AvP. So many fans always say that no one will top Kevin Peter Hall, and yeah, he was the original 'man in the suit', but Ian is just as good, I'm sure that'll really piss some people off, but damn... I'm glad someone has brought life back to my favorite creature.

I didn't watch AVP:R for stellar acting, I watched it to see people and Aliens get ^^^^ed up. That made me happy.

Yes, I agree, Ian was great. Almost as good as Kevin.

Oh and theres a billion fanboy comics for you to read to get your "ALUNZ GETIN FUXEZD UP LOLZ". Not these biased movies.

The whole reason we got the ^^^^ty ass film we did was because of you, and everyone like you crying about the Predators. Thus ruining the series' forever. Thank you very much! :D

Ian did a phenominal job on AvP (and AvP-R);

No one on that show (AvP) went through more pain and suffering than Ian, from the constant re-fittings of the creature suit (we had to re-mold his armour more than 200 times before it was finally good to go), to the complete BULL he had to go through with Anderson to get the reveal shot "just right".

Ian is a true tallent for the art, and i truely hope he keeps donning the suit to play the Pred in any more Predator or AvP movies, i really do, just as much as i hope to one day be back on set to see him in it...i just wish they'd get a plot and a decent director to do them justice.
