Unfortunately there are not enough forum members getting one to make an assessment here. Only SS know how many have arrived damaged and required replacing and they won't be making that public. As long as those people who ordered this and it arrives in good condition and they are happy with it thats all that matters. Personally I'd have preferred a thicker casting and better packaging.

They would have no choice if too many kept showing up broken. Imagine the shipping cost they would otherwise have to eat plus the cost of producing yet another statue to replace it only to have it break again :banghead

Aye you make a good point, but maybe that will be how they get rid of this batch and make a better quality one! :p That and future express updates/contests (with a pick up only stipulation).

IMO SS knew this was going to be an issue. Thats why the "open ES"....they probably have hundreds being made just as replacments!

SS why do you make it hard for yourselves:confused:

The ones receiving damaged items are always the most vocal and then there are the bashers who enjoy just fanning the flames - they don't have the piece and have no interest in it, but they jump on the opportunity to be negative.

In reality there is probably a less than 1% of these arriving with issues. It frequently seems the same people always have problems with items - and they may be bad luck, bad delivery people or whatever. But just because one person receives an item twice, both with issues, doesn't mean the whole batch is a problem.

And I'd agree with Sideshow CS - forums can be the WORST place for actually getting an impression of an item. For all the posts of great pictures and people that love it there are 100 posts from people trying to bash it, sometimes for a reason, but frequently just so they can post crap (hi Bodie).

Hi Dave. I agree with you for the most part but think that it would reassure customers more if Sideshow came out and said that that cast was a freak of nature, that most of the rest were of thicker casts.

That an an extended warranty beyond the normal 30 days would help reassure most buyers who are fans of the company in the first place.

I agree 100%, Dave.

My IM maquette showed up safe and sound a few weeks back and it is fantastic. I love it. Yet I didn't want to post anything for the exact reasons you explained. Why take the abuse? Plus there's no way I could
compete with averone's awesome pics!

Your points are true for the most part. But that isnt the issue in question here. The issue is......is a hallow shell of a statue worth 2k?

Would you buy this at that price point knowing how cheaply crafted it is for your own collection?

If this was priced at $500-$600 you wouldnt hear a peep from me. Because based on what I've seen so far...thats all its really worth. Im not hear trying to bash this piece. I really wanted to like it and really wanted it in my collection. But the quality you receive with this piece doesnt justify the price tag....thats the reality and thats the issue. I really think its time SS grows a pair and comes out and address this with the collectors. This silent treatment wont work for long.

Chris

I was one of the first people to receive this awesome statue, and it was damaged.

I told SS I did not want a refund, but a replacement.

Would have I liked an ES, numbered, and less hallow, a bit more reinforced for strength, and a bit cheaper?

Heck ya. But it is not.

It is instead a fantastic looking piece, that makes a clearly impressive statement in ones collection.

And since I am a Superhero/Villian theme collector, and it is a piece that makes an impressive statement, it is a piece I want.

It should be here by the end of the month. I can't wait for it.

I only offer pearls of knowledge.. Everything I state is usually dead on.. Don't hate me because I'm beautiful..

If only you are the one who got damaged ones, twice. That will certainly change your prospective. And I'm certainly not one of those most vocal ones. Again, only if this crap happens to you. This is the first time that something like this happened to me. All my previous SS purchases are fine.

You've missed the point. It's about the thin casting and the money SS charge for it.
