Then we replace him with Michael Gambon, who is a great replacement wizard.

Depends on the definition of "great." I'm sure it's a thankless job to come in after Harris' take on the character and credit is due him for coming in and taking on someone else's well-established/loved characterization. Am not hating him anymore in HP -- am now at the level of "meh", but he just doesn't do it for me as Dumbledore. Actually, am not a fan of Gambon in mostly anything.

I can't imagine anyone else as Saruman or anyone other than McKellen as Gandalf. All the rest I could live with (except Sirkis for Gollum).

If they took Andy Garcia and aged him a bit, I think he'd match Christopher Lee's look as Sauroman and even fit with the character being a bit younger. Then they could just pull a Vader and have Lee voiceover Garcia's lines.

He can always have himself filmed on a green screen or his sections filmed in a studio there with the actors and make those towards the end of filming.

That would work--in SWEP2 when Anakin and Padme were on Naboo talking with the new queen the old bearded guy (Sio Bibble) was shot on Bluescreen because the actor couldn't be there in shooting. They measured everything and duplicated it on stage.

While I agree that Garcia is a good match for a younger Lee, I think it would be strange to have a younger Saruman and yet Gandalf still looking pretty much the same.

So true. I really hope GDT will accomadate Lee and Lee will have a change of heart.

I have a feeling we will be seeing Chris Lee in The Hobbit (baring any "natural consequences" which may arise.)

Its implied and something I think they are using for the second of the two movies (when Gandalf leaves Thorin's party its to attend the White Council and expel the Necromancer (who I believe is the Witch-King or Sauron--I've never been clear on that) from Mirkwood. So yeah, Gandalf, Galadriel, and Saruman should all be in it since they all took part in The White Council.

I sat down and watched the trilogy today and these movies truly are beautiful and I hope these two new ones can exceed expectations.

Been a while since i sat down and viewed the masterpiece that is LOTR.

Since i will be buying my first plasma this week i will wait to then and enjoy it like i am watching it again for the first time.
