It was late, I was tired, and I had only rented it for the night. That being said, though, I'm kind of glad that I missed so much of it because it made this experience all the better. Getting to experience it for pretty much the first time with all of the extended sequences on a massive screen? What more could I ask for? Also, the mouth of Sauron is awful. I was almost as thrilled when Aragorn decapitated him as I was when Aragorn killed "Gimpy" the lazy eyed Orc.
It wasn't IMAX but it was in their next biggest screen room (same room I'm seeing The Hobbit in). There's no way I could fall a sleep during these movies. These to me (for me I should say) are m top three movies ever. There is no trilogy right now that can even sniff them. Between releases now I've seen each one in the theater a few times. Better late than never.
