Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

It wasn't IMAX but it was in their next biggest screen room (same room I'm seeing The Hobbit in). There's no way I could fall a sleep during these movies. These to me (for me I should say) are m top three movies ever. There is no trilogy right now that can even sniff them. Between releases now I've seen each one in the theater a few times. Better late than never.

It was late, I was tired, and I had only rented it for the night. :lol That being said, though, I'm kind of glad that I missed so much of it because it made this experience all the better. Getting to experience it for pretty much the first time with all of the extended sequences on a massive screen? What more could I ask for? Also, the mouth of Sauron is awful. I was almost as thrilled when Aragorn decapitated him as I was when Aragorn killed "Gimpy" the lazy eyed Orc.:lol

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

is there a reason he kept smiling like that? is it like that in the book too?

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

He looks so creepy the way that they enlarged his mouth slightly.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

Maybe he wasn't smiling? He just didn't have lips.:dunno

he was smiling, he had lips

Because he's a creepy individual who has long since forgotten normality because he worshiped Sauron. He come across creepy in the book but its a short sequence in the book like it is in the EE.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

The Mouth of Sauron was great. Glad I got the opportunity to see that in theaters on the big screen.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

I couldn't do the EE on theaters yesterday, but I'm watching them @ home on BD and they are awesome! I'm about 3/4 of Two Towers, and will watch ROTK tomorrow. Really pumped about The Hobbit!!
Just a few more days!! :panic:

No beheading in the book though

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

I still say the Mouth should have fought Aragorn instead of that random troll which replaced Sauron in PJ's first idea for that scene..... give Aragorn a reason to kill the mouth, not just lop his head off as he's defenceless and still talking ;)

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

Nah, even with him taking off his head I prefer it as is. I even like Aragorn taking his head as I'd probably do the same if someone was talking crap like that about a friend.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

I think Aragorn was just fed up with all the crap they had been through at that point and just wanted to shut the guy up :lol

Just like the video game

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

I know! I'd hang out with ya if it wasn't for the damn distance. :(

I like mine but I do like yours. It's basically like the Trilogy Tuesday ones. Ill take a pic of that one tomorrow.

I thought cinemark was doing a goodie as well?

No goodie. :( Did they show the Peter Jackson intros on your's? The site said they were suppose to, but they didn't, which was fine since I saw them the last time.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

I got the One Ring laynard with the show times on the back as well as the Bilbo Hobbit key chain at the trilogy last night. That's probably because I saw it at AMC.

I'm actually surprised I lasted all three films. By mid Two Towers, I was completely butt hurt. I had to run around for about an hour during the break, I felt like crap. I was surprised by the turn out, it was completely packed at my showings, kids and adults, and they all stayed. Return of the King . . . damn. It's great but, what a bloated film. It's full of fat that needed to be trimmed (even the non Extended Edition). I was getting really anxious with the last 40 minutes, "c'mon, stop ****ing around and end it".

Great stuff though, but I'm probably never going to watch LOTR again. :lol

We had 12 people there and I was the only woman. :yess:

To me the ROTK wasn't bloated at all and it went the fastest of the 3 films when watching them.

Oh and Fellowship of the Ring is clearly the best in my eyes. Best pacing, they're all together, Moria, Amon Hen, Boromir, Gandalf the Grey, the Shire, it can't be beat.

Yeah when I watch ROTK now I just skip through all the Frodo and Sam parts to the action scenes, they just went overboard with the hurl inducing bromance once they get into mordor:lol

I love it all! :lol

I <3 The Battle of Helm's Deep.

My favorite part of all the movies. I can only hope the battle with Smaug is this great!

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

What a bunch of pansies. :nana: I pretty much do this every year at home so this wasn't a big deal. The hour between each movie gave me a nice break to walk around.

FOTR is amazing but equally so is ROTK IMO. I don't feel it's bloated at all. The added depth of the EE material just sets this film off to be as awesome as it is.

You guys got an hour!!!?? I got 20 minutes!!! :lol

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

I don't pay attention to reviews anyway, I'm never gonna have the exact same feelings about a film as some random paid journalist, or anyone else for that matter.

And most are going into them looking for things to complain about. It's part of the job really.

Yeah from what I've seen its mostly bit ching about the 3D and hfr gimmicks which are optional and not focusing on the actual content of the movie:gah: If I like something, no one else's opinion is gonna change that.
