Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread *SPOILERS*

On another note is anyone anticipating the look of the HFR version to somehow translate to the blu-ray? I enjoyed the novelty of it but I prefer the look of the 24fps and would much rather have that for home viewing.

Good point.

I think the home video versions for blu ray will be fine and depend entirely on the television options and set up.

I'm curious as to how many double dips we're going to get...

Theatrical 48fps 3d
Theatrical 48fps 2d
Theatrical 24fps 3d
Theatrical 24fps 2d
Extended 48fps 3d
Extended 48fps 2d
Extended 24fps 3d
Extended 24fps 2d

Of all three films and then the special collectors set after all three have been released and then the special collectors all extended editions and then the special collection of the hobbit and lotr and then the special collection of all extended hobbits and lotr and then all the special editions of all the hobbits and newly remastered in 3d lotr, etc etc etc.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread *SPOILERS*

I may be misremembering because its been so long since I've read the book, but isn't there an important conversation with The Lord of the Eagles and their involvement in the battle if five armies?

No, Gandalf talks with them at Carrock but he just kind of shows up at the battle same with the eagles.

Does Beorn talk in his bear form?

Nope

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread *SPOILERS*

Are all blu-ray players capable of 48fps playback? I'd have thought only those with updatable software could.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread *SPOILERS*

I'm sure when it comes time the blu's will have both options on it. Ill be getting the TE and EE regardless.

:lol Oh no!

I do wish Jackson would've put out production diaries like he did for King Kong.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread *SPOILERS*

I don't really care so much about eagle speech, I'm really hoping he can pull off speaking spiders.

I'm pretty sure he could but who knows...I bet they hissss

No. Blu-ray 3D currently supports only 720p50, 720p59.94 and 1080p23.976 for HD content. It's going to be a challenge to get to 48fps 3D on existing equipment for a few reasons. First, you have the processing power of the BD player. To process the 48fps 3D you'll need more powerful equipment. Secondly, your display unit needs to be able to accept 48fps which none currently do. The active glasses will also have to be able to accept this fps. Right now you don't even get 24fps per eye let alone 48. There's a lot of work to be done before we see this at home.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread *SPOILERS*

Thank god Blu Ray is so intelligent it recognizes the superior frame rate. :lol

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread *SPOILERS*

I do wish there was some communication between Gandalf and the Lord of the Eagles....even non verbal

There kinda was.... Gandalf had to send that moth to someone!!

Also you gotta learn to multi-quote! :lol

I bet they talk in the last one.

If they don't, there's something wrong.

There's something wrong if they haven't talked in LOTR or this film... then suddenly do at the end!! They're fine as they are.
