Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread *SPOILERS*

Hobbits in the Hood.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread *SPOILERS*

I think this is the last week for it to be in most theaters. I know IMAX won't be carrying it after this week and one of my local theaters doesn't have it at all anymore (they only have 6 screens) and the other one only has one showing a day, so it will be gone this week for sure. I was hoping to see it again before it left but I'm not going to get to. :(

Glad you liked it! And glad you're feeling better.

Thank you! I am definitely appreciating a return to good health.

Peter Jackson's **** Vision was funny as hell. :lol

That's about it.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread *SPOILERS*

The whole thing was boring. SNL isn't much better than a high school skit show.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread *SPOILERS*

People bashing the 48fps is very reassuring to me that the format will go away forever.

So that was nice to see.

Everything else can die.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread *SPOILERS*

I thought it was a funny poke to him. I didn't take it seriously so I found some humor in it. As for SNL, it's really terrible now as a whole, though once in awhile it can be funny. I won't go out of my way to watch it though.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread *SPOILERS*

I have to say that I am slightly saddened that 10 years after LOTR, that Hobbit will not even match the U.S. Box Office of Fellowship, the lowest grossing film of the LOTR trilogy. Given inflation and the added take from 3D, I would have thought it would have at least out grossed 2 of the 3 LOTR films in the U.S.

It's not so much the box office take that bothers me, just that it is an indication that fewer people are interested in Middle Earth than they were 10 years ago.

It does suck. I would guess some have just moved on past it and had their fill of Middle-earth. They've got Marvel and DC keeping them filled with movies so its easier to stick with those. Of course you had some negative reviews which I think focused more on the 48 FPS and Trilogy decisions than the movie. So it is what it is. The movie I think for many of us was still a damn good time and worthy of being on the same shelf as The Lord of the Rings. As a fan of Middle-earth I'm ok with that. :yess:

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread *SPOILERS*

Yeah that sucks. The Hobbit may only gross a measly billion. So sad. Middle Earth is doomed. :monkey2

Fellowship might be the lowest grossing LOTR film but it was still HUGE in 2001. No one had *ever* seen a fantasy film like that before! People have enjoyed Middle-Earth on DVD/blu-ray for a decade now and a new film isn't as bright and shiny an object as something like The Avengers, no matter how superior it is.

That said I have a feeling that Desolation of Smaug will be huge. No Avengers this year, no Batman, just a handful of wannabe summber event movies and an entire year of people coming around to the fact that An Unexpected Journey was hella good and next time out will feature a fire breathing *dragon.* I think the trilogy is doing just fine. :)

A billion is still good. When I say it sucks its more just I expected it to do even better because of the feeling The Lord of the Rings left people with. A billion as I said is still good and is a good start for this trilogy.
