Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread *SPOILERS*

Picked up both The Hobbit Visual Companion and Official Movie Guide this past weekend. I really like the backstories of the dwarves since you don't get a whole lot of info from the books other than the main guys. The one thing that I found most interesting though, was the fact that Bifur has the blade of an orc axe sticking out of his head. :yess: I could have watched The Hobbit 50 times and never caught that.:lol

:lol:lol:lol

Yeah, he doesn't speak much and when he does it's in this other language or whatever.

I would say get this book too. [ame]https://www.amazon.com/Hobbit-Unexpected-Journey-Chronicles-Design/dp/0062200909/?tag=vglnk-c698-20[/ame]

It's more so design work and it comes in two parts, so I've heard, which is due out sometime this year.

Good choices. All the books I think help provide some good information on the characters and events. Only thing I wish is that they were all HC books. I also have them on my ipad in digital version.

Nice. I really have to get one. I'm always so far behind on technology. By the time I get one something better will already be out.:lol

Yeah, its cool. It has some nice digital features on it and pictures I don't think that are in the book. I believe total the IPad versions were cheaper than my paper versions. :lol

:lol Yeah, I put off getting them as long as I could but finally caved in. There's lots of interesting tidbits of info to be found. For example; Nori is said to be the black sheep of the family and is described as being a kleptomaniac. Hope Bilbo hid the good silverware.:lol And Bombur just might have an eating disorder.:rotfl

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread *SPOILERS*

Poor Yazneg got shafted. Thanks for sharing that though.

I appreciate the Goblin King a little more (skin texturing), still think Gollum is their best CGI character, and I definitely think Azog was a generic rushed job that doesn't make sense as an orc.

I agree. I've always said Azog looked blatantly CGI, and now I know why. He was a last minute decision that should've been left as Yazneg. Azog looks cool on paper, but was certainly the most unconvincing of the CGI characters we met in the first film. The Goblin King and Gollum were on point, though.

I feel the exact same way on the three.:goodpost:

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread *SPOILERS*

That's makes me a bit sad they didn't use Yazneg, who was suppose to be in make-up! Instead they caved and went CG on it. Shame. I still think he's badass and looks cool, but CG ALWAYS loses wen going against good make-up and prosthetic features imo.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread *SPOILERS*

I know most of this stuff is known by us, but it's interesting none the less (and I don't recall seeing it posted)

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread *SPOILERS*

That is neat. The Balin, Ori, and Stone Trolls part will gain more impact with people who haven't read the book and only seen the movies IMO.
